Progressive tax rates simply raise more tax revenue from those who have the most ability to pay them.

Why not simply raise the minimum wage until they pay more in taxes? A fifteen dollar an hour minimum wage generates around five times more in federal income tax revenue than the current federal minimum wage does now.

Or we could do something that makes more sense like abolish the minimum wage.

Corporate tax breaks help the poor way the hell more than lowering their tax rate from zero to really fucking zero. They need to buy stuff. That stuff gets more expensive when you idiots raise taxes on the corporation making the shit.

If you want to save poor people money stop taxing the shit out of the items they need to buy.
