In a Republic, actually
ā€˜Donald Trump called on Republican Senators vying for the majority leader position to permit him to appoint temporary cabinet members without Senate approval through recess appointments and demanded they reject any judicial nominations until he takes office.

Complaining that Senate approval takes too long, Trump said anyone seeking the leadership position ā€œmust agree to Recess Appointments (in the Senate!)ā€ on Truth Social on Sunday, a tactic that would effectively allow him to place any person in his cabinet without formal Senate approval.

ā€œSometimes the votes can take two years, or more. This is what they did four years ago, and we cannot let it happen again. We need positions filled IMMEDIATELY!ā€ Trump wrote.

Hours after Trumpā€™s statement, three Senators running for the leadership position endorsed Trumpā€™s idea.ā€™

Not even in office yet and he's consolidating his power as an autocrat.

Trump demonstrates his contempt for sound, responsible governance and his contempt for the consent of the people.

And Republicans demonstrate the same contempt.

Obstruction is not a democratic principle

Trump there to get things done not play footsie with the libs

That's perfect, that's the way you can get Jared and Don Jr. in key positions.

Trump does not believe in rules and safeguards baked in to the Constitution and his drooling supporters have 100% faith in Trump. See above. ^^^^
The Constitution confers confirmations authority on the Senate

But the Senate decides how that is done

Far more sane than what Democrats pulled w/o having both
the House and the Senate. In fact the drat Demobrats used their V.P.
Harris as the deciding vote in the Senate.
Trump is no bully.Like almost every democrat pol.
Name me for me the last President to have their residence
stormed.Never happened.Trump is The Only President
whether in or out of office to have his personal residence
stormed.Illegally mind you.Even rumaging around in former
First Lady Melania's bedroom.
Thankfully with the help of the Angels { archangels } there
won't be enough Democrats to field a poker game.
They have become that scorned.

Poor facediaper....told you the ho was a loser.

Complaining that Senate approval takes too long,

That's a fact, Jack. Trump has a mandate and can't be bothered wasting months and years waiting for the slow gears of Washington to catch up to him.
Get the hell out of his way--- Trump is about to show you the real potential that we have expected out of our government all along but never get.

So, Trump called on the next Senate leadership to allow him to exercise a clause found in the Constitution about recess appointments.

How is this even controversial? It is PART of the Constitution.

Itā€™s controversial because this has nothing to do with delays and everything to do with appointing people that canā€™t get senate approval.

I completely disagree. However, even taking in the context of just how hateful the left was the last time he was President and how they held up his cabinet appointments for months, are you even aware of the number of appointments that need to be filled in the Federal government, just in the judiciary alone?

To My way of thinking, he is asking for something he has authority to do, but has faced pushback in the past. This "request' is a way to get a reading on how the incoming leadership intends to treat him.

It will also determine if he will have to exercise his recall authority for Congress. Recall meaning that he can recall them back into session, not remove them from office.

We have Trumpā€™s history to fall back on. He illegally installed people with no chance at confirmation and his choices have only gotten more extreme. He will have plenty of opportunity to have his appointees confirmed by the Republican controlled senate if they arenā€™t fringe extremists as he has already surrounded himself with.
