Trump-backing congressman says GOP will use budget 'reconciliation' to repeal Obamacare in first 100 days – depriving Democrats of the chance to filibuster it

* Rep. Chris Collins, the first Republican to endorse President-elect Trump, says the GOP will move legislation to repeal Obamacare within Trump's first 100 days

* Party would use budget procedure that would let them jam it through on a simple majority vote, depriving Senate Democrats of the filibuster

* Medical device tax, 30-hour workweek for coverage, employer mandate, employee mandate all could go, gutting the plan

* Says there would be a 'transition' for 2017

The Republican push to repeal Obamacare is going on a fast track under a procedure that would make minority Democrats powerless to stop it, the first Republican congressman to endorse President-elect Donald Trump said Friday.

Republicans who now have unified control of Congress plan to move to repeal Obamacare during the first 100 days of the incoming Trump administration, said Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY).

They would do this under a budget procedure called 'reconciliation,' which requires a simple majority vote to approve tax and spending changes.

Trump whispers in "Bitch Mitch's" ear...if you don't do my bidding, I'll spend $30 million, if I have to, in order to primary you out in a few years......The change would be overnight!

Will that be before or after they allow pharma companies to charge you anything they damn well please? Pharma, biotech shares soar as Trump win calms pricing talk

Martin Shkreli is laughing at clowns like you.
So, idiot, Trump runs on lowering Healthcare costs, but will let pharmacy raise their prices to the roof....Start looking for some logic, and not under your bed.

This is great news.

The LWNJ's will soon learn that Trump also has a "pen and a phone" and all of Obama's "Executive Orders" will be undone.

Bet hard on this amounting to nothing. Congress loves keeping the lobbyists lined up around the corner.

Trump wants single payer. A friend who is high up in Medicare says that is not possible.

But improvements on ACA are welcome.

seriously, the republicans need to have a meeting on it to discuss how to get rid of it and how to fill any holes it leaves. They need to do this behind closed locked doors and not allow the democrats access.
Based on how it was passed, the democrats should respect this and go along with it
after the way democrats did things when they had control, their best option is to STFU and accept it

Not quite, apparently. They'll "repeal" it some time early next year but actually leave it on the books for years.

Congressional Republicans are setting up their own, self-imposed deadline to make good on their vow to replace the Affordable Care Act. With buy-in from Donald Trump’s transition team, GOP leaders on both sides of the Capitol are coalescing around a plan to vote to repeal the law in early 2017 — but delay the effective date for that repeal for as long as three years.

Which means they'll set a clock to kick 20+ million off their insurance sometime in 2020, a presidential election year.

Go ahead and game out in your head what's actually going to happen three years down the line.
