Activists informally associated with antifa—which is short for "antifascist"—were responsible for some of the violence over the weekend. They have also committed crimes during previous protests: Trump's inauguration in D.C., the Portland demonstrations against the Proud Boys, and many others. This is consistent with antifa's ideology, which holds (generally speaking) that harsh tactics are necessary to combat the far right and does not believe in extending free speech to people who oppose its goals. (My book Panic Attack: Young Radicals in the Age of Trump includes an in-depth look at antifa's history, tactics, and goals.)
So antifa is well worth criticizing. But Trump's declaration is flawed in a number of ways.
For one thing, it's not actually possible for the president to label antifa a domestic terrorist group: There is no such designation. The U.S. State Department maintains a list of known terrorist organizations, but it includes only foreign groups—mostly radical Islamists....
For another thing, giving the government greater license to consider all antifa activities terroristic in nature would certainly result in civil liberties violations. The authorities would end up harassing and surveilling Americans who have professed sympathy for the far left but are not engaged in anything approaching criminal activity.

So the FBI does not have a list of terrorism groups? Bullshit, of course they do, formally or informally, and they act on it all the time.

He is right and you are the moron.

First they have a terrorist list. However the organizations on that are foreign organizations. There is no list for domestic terrorism.

Second, there is no organization called Antifa. To say they are loosely based would be a understatement. In Charlottesville, Trump and his supporters falsely labeled counter-protestors Antifa when there was not one shred of evidence. How do you enforce that? If someone agrees with a Antifa activist then do they get arrested? That would be a violation of free speech. Even if someone says they are Antifa and commit no crime them arresting them would be a violation of their free speech rights.

The article is wrong about claiming there are NO domestic terror individual or groups.

The FBI own website thinks there are plenty of domestic terrorism examples:

Terrorism

Excerpt:

Domestic terrorism: Violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature.

Well lets start:
While Domestic Terrorism does exist only Foreign Terror Organisations can go on the Terror list...

But more importantly, ANTIFA are not an organisation. They have no leader or membership... It is a movement with methods... This means to ban them is to ban free speech... You can ban anymore than a guys says I want my gun for when the Government takeover...

The whole idea is just plainly stupid... This would take 5 mins in court...
You have described ISIS. Are they a terrorist group or not?

if we don’t do something now, my friends, shame on all of us. We’re brothers and sisters

we need to change America NOW, and Antifa and all other peaceful groups are part of that, my friends

read this Jim, it explains the argument....

You should stop reading far-left news sources and pretending they are anything but an attack on America.

You should learn to read and start by reading the First Amendment. Any attempt to enforce this would be a violation of free speech rights.

On the one hand, Republicans are consuming warnings about antifa on Fox News. On the other, Democrats hear Kamala Harris describe Trump on MSNBC as “the worst combination of George Wallace and Richard Nixon.”

ANTIFA has no leadership? Is that what you're claiming? Taking action against them is banning free speech? It isn't their "speech" that's the issue...it's their planned violent acts that are the problem...planned violent acts that require leadership and members!

You can try any individual if they commit a violent act. You cannot try someone just because they say they are Antifa or say they agree with Antifa. That is a violation of free speech rights.

of course there is a list for domestic terrorists. The KKK is on it. So is Aryan Nation, Army of God, Christian Identity. Others.

Your ignorance is noted, the FBI doesn't agree with you, they have stated that terrorism is one individual or a group.

From the FBI website

Terrorism Definitions
International terrorism: Violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups who are inspired by, or associated with, designated foreign terrorist organizations or nations (state-sponsored).

Domestic terrorism: Violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature.

If you run around saying that you are Antifa it's the same as if you say you are Isis or Taliban. You would go on the terrorist watch list with everything that goes with it.

They lose their Miranda rights and protections if they are seen as terrorists....this has to have them scared.
