Trump Attacks Bush For Speaking Out On Sept. 11 Against Violent Extremists

Donald Trump isn’t very happy about the speech George W. Bush made on Sept. 11 condemning violent extremism here and abroad.
In fact, he went ballistic against his fellow former president in a statement released Monday in which he said the 43rd president “shouldn’t be lecturing anybody.”

Although Bush did draw a parallel between foreign and domestic extremists in Saturday’s speech, he did not explicitly mention the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters or Trump himself.

Still, Trump took it as a personal attack. So he hit back hard, pointing out that Bush is responsible “for getting us into the quicksand of the Middle East (and then not winning!)”
Trump then attacked Bush for lecturing that “terrorists on the ‘right’ are a bigger problem than those from foreign countries that hate America, and that are pouring into our Country right now.”

While no one should care or have to listen to anything Bush says, the same goes for Trump.

Trump is pretty bad but I don't know how Bush is able to show his face in public.

Pretty hard for Trump to defend 6/1 .. That sure wasn't a foreign policy blunder. Trump was quite pleased with himself for the 5 weeks before they stormed the Capitol. He was enjoying winding them up if you recall.

So what? Bush mealy-mouthing about how Trump has poisoned his party doesn't mean a whole lot.

He should have been out saying this LOUDLY in 2016. Not subtly in 2020.

The biggest problem isn't the hard-core MAGAt, it's all the Republican Mitlaufers who knew this was wrong and said nothing.

True and while bad it wasn't a bad as lying us into wasting trillions of dollars and thousands of lives on his useless wars.

I think you have to give Cheney and the PNAC some credit for that.. Even the Brits had started selling the war on Iraq in 1998 with a massive propaganda effort called Operation Mass Appeal.

Clean Break Strategy was all the rage with the politicians who knew NOTHING about the ME.

The war on democracy is just getting started. A few more years and you may have to revise your statement.

Wars that most Americans enthusiastically supported when they started.

But you leave that part out.

They did. We were lied to. You seem to leave that part out. It wasn't the people's decision though, it was Bush's. Rather than giving 9-11 speeches he should be facing war crime charges.

Absolutely BUT Bush was president. He allowed Cheney and Rumsfeld play him bad BUT he was president.

Oh, please, they had been bitching about Saddam since he refused to roll over and die in 1991.

We knew what we were doing. We didn't care.

Blaming our leaders for doing what we wanted them to do is kind of silly, but that's what we do.

You mean shooing Saddam out of Kuwait? Big whoop. We did the proper thing. You can' compare that to the compound blunder of invading Iraq.

Actually, Bush checked off all the boxes. He got a congressional approval for the war, that Biden, Hillary, Kerry and most of the other Democrats signed off on. We had a mid-term where we voted out people who even mildly objected to the war. Bye-bye Max Cleland, you hippy. Oh, wait, you are a guy who lost three limbs in Vietnam...

Absolutely BUT Bush was president. He allowed Cheney and Rumsfeld play him bad BUT he was president.

And both parties signed off on it.
