Transcript Truthers: Conservatives Deny Obama Called Libya Attack An "Act Of Terror"

During tonight's presidential debate, moderator Candy Crowley corrected Mitt Romney's false claim that President Obama did not refer to the September 11 attack on the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya as an act of terrorism the day after the attack.

Crowley was right, and Romney was wrong: In his September 12 remarks, the president said: "No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America." Despite this, conservatives in the media are insisting that Obama never said that.

Fail, spinners, fail.

Susan Rice?? how are you spinning her performance?? Letterman?? UN speech??

Why did Rice say what she did on 5 different shows??

Right-Wing Media Falsely Claim Candy Crowley Walked Back Her Fact Check Of Romney

RWM = scum.

They love to twist and spin.

CNN's Candy Crowley is debunking a claim pushed by the right-wing media that she walked back a fact check of Mitt Romney's remarks about the attack in Libya during the second presidential debate.

During the debate, Romney expressed disbelief that President Obama referred to the September 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi as an "act of terror" the day after the attack occurred. Crowley noted that the president did in fact use those words, and she has consistently made that same point since the debate.

Fail, spinners, fail.

Yes HazMutt, you DO in fact fail.

Your snip is a deliberate effort to CONCEAL that he had made reference to 9/11/2001.

THAT'S the ONLY reference to terror.

Not Benghazi. The attacks from 11 years earlier.

Damn, you are one pathetic monumentally dishonest hack. Thankfully, the massive magnitude of your fail is beyond doubt.

HERE is the full transcript:

Yesterday, four of these extraordinary Americans were killed in an attack on our diplomatic post in Benghazi. Among those killed was our Ambassador, Chris Stevens, as well as Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith. We are still notifying the families of the others who were killed. And today, the American people stand united in holding the families of the four Americans in our thoughts and in our prayers.

The United States condemns in the strongest terms this outrageous and shocking attack. We're working with the government of Libya to secure our diplomats. I've also directed my administration to increase our security at diplomatic posts around the world. And make no mistake, we will work with the Libyan government to bring to justice the killers who attacked our people.

Since our founding, the United States has been a nation that respects all faiths. We reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. But there is absolutely no justification to this type of senseless violence. None. The world must stand together to unequivocally reject these brutal acts.

Already, many Libyans have joined us in doing so, and this attack will not break the bonds between the United States and Libya. Libyan security personnel fought back against the attackers alongside Americans. Libyans helped some of our diplomats find safety, and they carried Ambassador Stevens’s body to the hospital, where we tragically learned that he had died.

It's especially tragic that Chris Stevens died in Benghazi because it is a city that he helped to save. At the height of the Libyan revolution, Chris led our diplomatic post in Benghazi. With characteristic skill, courage, and resolve, he built partnerships with Libyan revolutionaries, and helped them as they planned to build a new Libya. When the Qaddafi regime came to an end, Chris was there to serve as our ambassador to the new Libya, and he worked tirelessly to support this young democracy, and I think both Secretary Clinton and I relied deeply on his knowledge of the situation on the ground there. He was a role model to all who worked with him and to the young diplomats who aspire to walk in his footsteps.

Along with his colleagues, Chris died in a country that is still striving to emerge from the recent experience of war. Today, the loss of these four Americans is fresh, but our memories of them linger on. I have no doubt that their legacy will live on through the work that they did far from our shores and in the hearts of those who love them back home.

Of course, yesterday was already a painful day for our nation as we marked the solemn memory of the 9/11 attacks. W e mourned with the families who were lost on that day. I visited the graves of troops who made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq and Afghanistan at the hallowed grounds of Arlington Cemetery, and had the opportunity to say thank you and visit some of our wounded warriors at Walter Reed. And then last night, we learned the news of this attack in Benghazi.

As Americans, let us never, ever forget that our freedom is only sustained because there are people who are willing to fight for it, to stand up for it, and in some cases, lay down their lives for it. Our country is only as strong as the character of our people and the service of those both civilian and military who represent us around the globe.

No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done.

But we also know that the lives these Americans led stand in stark contrast to those of their attackers. These four Americans stood up for freedom and human dignity. They should give every American great pride in the country that they served, and the hope that our flag represents to people around the globe who also yearn to live in freedom and with dignity.

We grieve with their families, but let us carry on their memory, and let us continue their work of seeking a stronger America and a better world for all of our children.

Thank you. May God bless the memory of those we lost and may God bless the United States of America.

Remarks by the President on the Deaths of U.S. Embassy Staff in Libya | The White House

ALSO: check out the WHITE HOUSE released TRANSCRIPT they included with THEIR release of the video from what he said IN the Rose Garden:

Statement by the President on the Attack in Benghazi

I strongly condemn the outrageous attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi, which took the lives of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens. Right now, the American people have the families of those we lost in our thoughts and prayers. They exemplified America's commitment to freedom, justice, and partnership with nations and people around the globe, and stand in stark contrast to those who callously took their lives.

I have directed my Administration to provide all necessary resources to support the security of our personnel in Libya, and to increase security at our diplomatic posts around the globe. While the United States rejects efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others, we must all unequivocally oppose the kind of senseless violence that took the lives of these public servants.

On a personal note, Chris was a courageous and exemplary representative of the United States. Throughout the Libyan revolution, he selflessly served our country and the Libyan people at our mission in Benghazi. As Ambassador in Tripoli, he has supported Libya's transition to democracy. His legacy will endure wherever human beings reach for liberty and justice. I am profoundly grateful for his service to my Administration, and deeply saddened by this loss.

The brave Americans we lost represent the extraordinary service and sacrifices that our civilians make every day around the globe. As we stand united with their families, let us now redouble our own efforts to carry their work forward.

Note again: Not one fucking word about "terror" or "terrorism" or "terrorist."

dumb ass...

Candy Crowley Walks It Back: Romney Was Right - Candy Crowley - Fox Nation
Verbate of CNN air at approximately 2330edt
Anderson Cooper: lets bring in candy though cause candy this was a moment which obviously now both campaigns are going to be focused on. tell us now your thoughts during that moment

Candy Crowley: Well you know again i heard the presidents speech at the time i sort of reread a lot of stuff about libya because i knew we would probably get a libya question so i kind of wanted to to be up on it.

so i knew that the president had had said you know "these acts of terror will not stand" or whatever the whole quote was.
she wasn't even sure what the President actually said...
and i think actually - because i did turn around right after that and say "but you are totally correct that they spent two weeks telling us this was about a tape and that there was a you know this riot outside the benghazi consulate which there wasn't"Just told Romney he was right.

so he was right in the main i just thing he picked the wrong word.

And you know they are going to parse and we all know about what the definition of is is.

but i think in the end i think john is probably right this has a lot more to do with jobs and the debt crisis and all of that kind of stuff.

I just think probably it was one of those moments and i can even feel that here. You know when you say something you are not expecting - it was just that was the natural to come out of me going actually "you know he did call it an act of terror" admitting it was an emotional spur of the moment comment, not based in fact.

when half of the crowd claps for that and the other half claps for "you know they kept telling us this was caused by a tape."

you know in the main the thrust of what governor romney was saying - which is why i went back and said that um but i think he just picked the wrong kind of way to go about talking about it if that makes sense

She is saying Romney was correct, but she thought his wording was a little off.

Moderator Crowley says Romney 'right in the main' on Libya, despite debate intervention | Fox News
Crowley, during and following the debate, pointed out that despite Obama's Sept. 12 remarks his administration was peddling a different story to the public. She said it took two weeks for officials to say more definitively that the attack was more than an out-of-control protest.

And she continued to clarify on CNN that Romney was making a legitimate point.

"Right after that I did turn around and say, 'but you are totally correct that they spent two weeks telling us that this was about a tape'," she said.

How many times do we need threads on this same exact thing??? You're STILL wrong!
How many times has it been proven to you?? And you're STILL wrong!

What a hack!

Obama never said that!!!

here's what he really said, "We succeed because of our individual initiative but ... of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together."

Fail, spinners, fail.
for me he clearly mean those words in relation to librya event

it be better for gop to go on the response to that rather then use of words. response was mess by adminstration and be better for them to go on that

These are the same jokers trying to persuade us that Obama did not say "You didnt build that" about entrepreneurs and their businesses. You know it's true when you see a dozen threads from the leftists trying to persuade us. If it were obvious they wouldn't need to.

Liberals are so invested in obama, that they call Crowley a liar when she admitted she was wrong. obama said the attack on Benghazi was caused by the movie. His UN Ambassador said it on five television shows the following Sunday. obama said it six times in his own UN appearance and he made his own video with Hillary Clinton to be shown in Pakistan apologizing for the movie with no mention of the Benghazi attack.

Democrats can wiggle all they want but it does not change what really happened. They can parse words to the end of time but everyone really knows.

The best line Romney said during the debate was "you know better" and we do.
