I looked at the receipt from a hat a friend bought in 1987- it is for $39.00 tax $2.44 or, .0625%
That hat today would be $141.18 tax $11.64, or, .0825%

I have a hat I bought in 2007, IMS, don't remember the cost- but, it's a 4X Stetson. I was told to get the same quality hat I'd have to buy a 6x- (4x hats are cheaper material) which is on sale, for $220.00 (that's $20.00 off regular retail) which relates to, in 2007 $, $177.00 but two things are at work here- quality and price- I don't remember the tax rate at the time-

Just sayin-

An ounce of gold would, at one time, buy a suit of clothes and a pair of boots- you do the math.

If you don't remember the cost, and you don't remember the tax rate, what do you remember?

I bought a Python in the early 70's- 242 bucks- man- try buying one now-

My first new car was a 1972 Nova, I ordered the way I wanted it- 2900 bucks- I bought a 76 Grand Prix, brand new, ordered the way I wanted it, 4600 bucks and on and on and on- the 72 Nova was 2 ounces of gold at today's gold price- currency value of fed reserve notes determines the price of gold- not the market- some prefer gold, I know I do, but silver is less troublesome-
