To many taxes to film in LA?

Not me.
Lots of shows are shot in Canada nowadays. The costs are much lower.

Good business practices for the companies and kinda sucky for LA.

Oh Well. LOL

California's professional administration of just about anything if a failure like their economy.
Even the movie studios have already bailed, or should we say cover their butts for actions like this, more taxation. So they set up shop elsewhere, just in case.

Hollywood studios realize that if they want to increase their revenue, they are going to struggle to do that in America,” said Mike Ellis, Asia Pacific president for the Motion Picture Association. “Nearly every single studio is already in India. They are definitely here for the long haul.”

Alabama gives a tax credit of up to 20% up to 15 million for production in the state for movie production.

Georgia goes one step further and gives 30% with no cap. So you could make a 300 million dollar movie and get 100 million back.

There's a group in Arizona who has created a Hollywood away from Hollywood with soundstages that rival anything anywhere else.

California needs to watch their back ;)

This happened a long time ago. CA under the shortlived Davis administration added all kinds of taxes to the movie industry and the industry died in CA because of it. Now there are very few productions going on in LA. I have quite a few friends in the industry and 90% of their work is out of the country entirely.
