The John Lewis bill has some gop support, just not 10 votes. Machin called on republicans to get on board. I'm not on board, really. What the bill does is restore restrictions on southern states drawing district lines. There's no doubt the gop gerrymanders. But nobody forced progressives to decide they don't want to do the same. Here in Miss, the gop leadership refused medicaid expansion and med weed, despite supermaj's wanting it. But the dems can't win cause we think they want to give more rights to some than others.

Manchin's not jumping ship but the progressives will have to get a clue that they got 1.2 Trillion in More Covid Relief, and they can get another trillon for infrastructure and they wouldn't have had to use the one more 2021 reconcilliation they have in their hip pocket.

Although, I think Caputo was trying to manuever Biden into payign for it with "new deficit dollars," WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN THE GOP CAMPAIGN LINE FOR 2020, but Biden's seen that gambit before, and he didn't take the bait. And if so, I wouldn't be terribly displeased if the dems passed on party line some social program expansion and tax credits to move from carbon, and paid for it with a tax cut on those making over 400K.
