(OK, OK—only when its orbit is at its closest to earth, nerd.) Nine million tons is also the equivalent of piling five grocery bags full of plastic on every foot of coastline in the world.

I don't see anywhere where he advocated we don't use plastic. It's where it's being disposed of after it's discarded that would appear to be the issue.

Plastics can be recycled but they aren't. Renewables are available but are shouted down by repub pols who are in the pockets of the petroleum industry.
