Some good happening

Among the signers of the post were principals from Congregation Beth El, Oheb Shalom Congregation and Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel, all of South Orange.

The partners said they are seeking volunteers, “especially to identify affordable housing, provide Arabic language support, and advocate with schools and social services.”

New Jersey Synagogues Seek Help in Resettling Syrian Refugees

“Over and over again in prayers and in the Torah we are commanded to remember that we were strangers in the land of Egypt. And that commandment reminds us to treat strangers with kindness,” said Rabbi Elliott Tepperman of the Bnai Keshet synagogue in Montclair.

Members of the congregation at Bnai Keshet have been moved by the plight of Syrians, which reminded them of their own diaspora during World War II. They felt compelled to help. Last year, members hosted a Christmas Day dinner for 10 Syrian families.

The dinner was so successful that it led to a continuing program called the Syria Supper Club, where congregants invite Syrians to their home to cook and share a meal. In turn, the diners will make a donation to support the families. So far, there have been around 20 dinners.

Bnai Keshet sponsored a Syrian family with four boys, ages 5 to 14. The synagogue raised $7,000 within 72 hours to pay back the money the family owed for the cost of their flights to the U.S

USA Archives - Thank You Am Israel!

The Rabbi addressed the complexities of the Syrian refugee crisis; the very notion of Jews helping people from a country in perpetual enmity to the state of Israel, the security risks involved in relocating Syrian refugees to the West, and the charge that some refugees who look to settle in Europe and North America do so more out of economic motives than humanitarian ones.

All these subjects, Rabbi Pitkowsky addressed with observations that were rational and level-headed. The Rabbi displayed a commendably sensible view of the crisis that stands in stark contrast to the xenophobic scare-mongering prevalent in most of American punditry, where politicians are admired for rejecting even five-year old Syrian orphans for relocation to the United States.

So help them out...

Does your mom have a spare bedroom upstairs, since you obviously live in her basement????

Pittsburgh Jews Welcome Syrians As Trump Warns Of Danger

he Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Pittsburgh is the local resettlement agency HIAS is working with in that city, and Rodef Shalom there is the one synagogue actively working with the refugees, according to Leslie Aizenman, the Pittsburgh agency’s director of refugee and immigrant services.

“The first Syrian refugees we resettled — eight families — started coming in December,” she said. “There have been 41 people, including a butcher, a small businessman, a farmer, one student, a young wife and baby. One woman who was pregnant in December gave birth to the couple’s sixth kid in February, and our staff was in the delivery room with them.”

Let them settle these dirtbags right next to their houses. Lets see how long it takes the dirtbags to attack them.

None of these refugees should be here. Fifty three percent of Americans and thirty one States don't want them here. Let them stay in Syria.
