It's a 'build it yourself' idea..a bit too sketchy for me..but could be fun to build.
The folding up part just doesnt make sense. I would use a whole shell and cover the holes with thick canvas when i wanted to sleep.
 
Interesting. However ever built a vertical sided boat and got on water? (I did) NEED FLARE in the sides.

The last few boats were for simplicity in build, not practicality.

Without reserve flare, you get an extremely tippy and sensitive shoe box. Take one step off centerline your gunwales in the drink.

Check out a Grand Banks dory design. That's "reserve flare" Many have crossed the ocean under oars. Portguese hated America yet fished 200 mi off out coast. If they lost the mother ship instead of the 200 mi here they crossed the Atlantic to get home.
