These fuel prices are ridiculous

what was it then you were doing under Trump? TDSing huh?

now you're getting really retarded, another reason why rightwing nutjob shills can't beat crazies like biden , Pelosi, or AOC in elections: They have zero credibility as well. lol

In the United States, new technology did not become accepted by the middle class, until the cost was close to equal. Think of the auto being the plaything of the very rich, until Ford developed the assembly line making the Model T, which many people could afford.

This is why through all their phony red herrings and excuses, what the Left is actually doing is............since they can NOT yet bring the cost of the new technology down; even through massive subsidies, they have changed directions, and decided to bring the price of old technologies up! It would be the same if way back when, the govt decided they wanted you to buy a car, so they put a huge tax on a horse and buggy.

Now, nobody (especially me) is here to tell any Leftist that electric cars will not end up being the be all, end all in personal transportation. What I am here to tell you is..................you are NOT allowing the free market; or maybe reasonably free market, decide WHEN this happens by cost. YOU are attempting to FORCE everyone to do what YOU want them to, and in the process, hurting people in the middle class and below by your sneaky manipulations of fossil fuel prices by using the law of supply and demand to accomplish your goal, then pretending it wasn't you people doing it. During 2019 when the economy came back roaring and unemployment was at it's lowest in years, the average price of gasoline was around 2.35 a gallon. No supply shortages of ANYTHING, including gasoline.

So all of you Leftists can say whatever you wish, but the buck stops at the Presidents desk, period, end of story. This administrations policies have restricted our getting oil and natural gas, and they did it within a week of taking office. California has decided to deny truckers into their state unless they are UNION, AND have a newer truck. YOU Leftists did this, or at least your politicians, so do not try and deflect what is obvious. The supply chains have brought down by your RULES and REGULATIONS, and purposely done so to pander to unions, and green energy interests, including politicians like AOC.

You can try all you want to deny this, and maybe you can convince some people, while maybe others do not care. But it is as easy to see as the nose on your faces that........Americans know; for the most part, what is going on, and that bodes very badly for you!

In the same boat as most here. Already got a mailer from our energy company about the large increases coming, and I don't have to even mention the gas pumps as we can all see that one every time we fill up. Thanks for dropping everything into the crapper Brandon.

WASHINGTON, DC—White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki addressed concerns over rising inflation Friday, noting that the impact of rising prices doesn’t matter because there’s nothing left on store shelves to buy.

“Rising prices would definitely be a problem if there were things like food, clothing, or medicine available for purchase,” Psaki said. “As it stands right now, consumers really aren’t paying higher prices because they're not able to purchase anything. People are reporting they’ve never saved so much money in their lives!”...

$4 a gallon is still pretty cheap; it's the value of the dollar that is declining; decades of low wages make it look like a big increaseto working people, but it is in fact cheaper than it was in 1972, before the 'oil crisis' hit. $1 dollar in 1972 was worth over $6 in 2020 dollars using Federal inflation numbers, which are always less than half of what real inflation is, we get a $4 gallon as about the same price in inflation adjusted dollars as the 36 cents per gallon it was in 1972. With the dramatic drop in demand for gasoline over the last three decades it should be cheaper, but costs have gone up due to changes in chemical formulas and adding that ethanol crap to it.
4 dollars a gallon is not cheap. Dumb statement. I'm spending 200 a week in fuel right now. Last year it was half that or less.

It's dirt cheap, and what is more the price increases don't have squat to do with the Keystone XL or reduced drilling caused by Biden, it's caused by big corporations stuffing themselves since they have little or no competition. When the whining gets too loud, they lower the prices, same racket for many decades now, nothing new here, except how Town Hall or FreeperLand tell some morons how to spin it this week. Next week it might be something different.

I'm not spinning anything but the loss of money at the pump.

I don't care why it's up. It's UP and it's not reasonable.

Considering what it has to go through to go from crude in the ground to gasoline at the pump, we should be thankful it doesn’t cost a whole lot more.

30 cent increase in just one week for gas and what is Biden doing.....pushing green energy.
Then yesterday our local news said we should expect a nearly 50% increase in our natural gas bills.
To make matters worse our local gas taxes also went up.

All told my fuel costs will increase by well over a thousand dollars if not close to 2k per year under Biden.

Thanks Brandon
Don't worry. It's only temporary, through 2022.

Multiply average 1972 prices by 10, and you get $3.60 a gallon; inflation has been significantly higher than a multiple of 10 since then, and real competition has been reduced to nil as well. Gas is cheaper now than it was in 1972. The tar sands sludge has a very poor yield percentage of fuels, which is why the Gulf Coast refineries only use a tiny fraction of their throughput on it. It has no real effect on on pricing either way other than it's much more expensive to refine.

Supply and demand. You reduce supply, and/or increase demand and prices go up.

BTW...."Dirt Cheap"?!?!?!. This may be okay for the more well off individuals like yourself, but the less fortunate are not going to share your viewpoint.

It's cheaper than it was in 1972, much cheaper. 'Supply and Demand' has nothing to do with retail gas prices; there is no 'free market' in petroleum products, hasn't been since the 1870's. If people can't afford it now it's because of other issues, most of which neither left or right wingers want to admit to, since it doesn't fit ideological narratives and fantasies.

It was not cheaper in 1972.
In the year 1972, the average retail price of gas was $0.36.

This is equivalent to $2.28 in 2021 dollars.

The experts also agree...supply/demand.

Supply shortages + high global demand = Higher prices.

The basic reason behind the rising prices are supply shortages caused by bottlenecks in the supply chain and producers getting back to pre-pandemic levels of output.

Gasoline prices have risen in line with the increased price for a barrel of crude oil. In turn the price per barrel has jumped for the simple reason of high global demand for crude oil and tight supply, and it looks likely to stay high through next year.

But I guess you don't care about the less fortunate. Let those prices rise, so only the rich can drive .

More rubbish. Suddenly you beleive the government numbers on inflation? lol that's hilarious. The CPI Index used by the BLS has been a joke since it was invented. The Feds have lots of reasons for not reporting real inflation, and so do those who bribe Congress.

And, for the Peanut Gallery, here is the history of drilling rig counts, and as we can see, they declined under Trump, and have been rising under Biden, currently as of Oct. 22 it's now 542.

The high prices mean the oil companies can export it for a bigger profit than they can sell it at home, is all. Some countries are willing to pay more. As I've already said, many are merely hoarding cash and paying out long delayed dividends, as is the case in many of those slumps indicated in the data. Sooner or later they run dry, same as it will in the ME, so it is completely stupid to use up our own reserves in the ground just so you can save a few bucks for a few months.

We know enough that Trump had a good bead on the nation. His policies were for the good for most of the people. Endless attacks on his personality which was how Progs are by the way, was used to destroy his agendas. This dildo in office in several months has done everything you could to destroy a recovery from closing down the economy by the same Progs. Banana Republic...We are a Dildo Republic.

Biden does what he's told by the Party's owners, same as the GOP does, and those owners are giant multi-nationals, insurance companies, law firms, and welfare billionaires like Elon Musk. And they all love the Red Chinese 'business model' and want it here. They glutted the market for a while, mainly to punish Russia and Iran and a few others whose production they don't control, now they're just making up the losses is all.

Democrats are in charge and they own inflation and high energy (fuel) prices. They need to be held accountable for the policies they pursue that will help lower consumer costs and foreign oil dependency NOW. Green Energy futures are not going to help. Blaming Trump and the oil companies are not going to help.

I am not judging or necessarily blaming Democrats for the high inflation and energy prices but I am going to judge them how they handle it in the policies they pursue and effect.
