Look at their faces and read their stories. A tragic loss of life. They had the courage to do what so many will not.

RIP. All of them.

A terror attack outside Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport in Afghanistan left 11 Marines, one Army soldier and a Navy corpsman dead Thursday, injuring 20 more service members and inflicting even more carnage on Afghan civilians.

The service members were holding the airport as the Biden administration rushes to evacuate Americans and Afghan allies from the country following a swift Taliban offensive reclaimed the country.

The ISIS-K terror group claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing seeking to disrupt the massive evacuation effort of Americans, Afghan allies and third-party nationals outside the U.S.-held airport.

It was the deadliest attack on U.S. troops in Afghanistan in more than a decade.

Here are the men and women who gave their lives in support of a massive evacuation effort to save U.S. citizens and Afghan allies:

I saw many in all various uniforms in a night vision last week who were killed over this mess and heard six thousand all toll. We all need to pray for the safety of military throughout the globe trying to keep the peace.

We need to get the military the fuck out of these shithole countries they have zero reason to be fighting and dying in. Every single life lost in Iraq and Afghanistan was for nothing. How much more tragic can it get than that? We ask these men and women to do the impossible, giving them missions with little or zero chance of success, and the politicians asking this of them are not making a single sacrifice.

I tend to lean with much of what you say. I've considered the situation the U.S military was holding there before the withdrawal and there is a legitimate argument to be made that keeping the Status Quo wouldn't have been horrible. Down to 2.5k soldiers from 15k with no decernible decrease in control. No deaths for 18 months. Let the Taliban play in their sandbox, U.S hold the other, and U.S can use it as an intel base.

However, barring that sort of East/West Berlin situation, leaving is the best option. Not going there at all was by far the best choice that wasn't taken after 9/11. Now so many have paid the price.

"people based in Afghanistan"......... your mindset led to a disastrous 20 year occupation. Al Qaeda was routed in 2 months. The Taliban never attacked us.
