There was 4 to 6 months of an impeachment investigation with Nixon in the Judiciary committee, before they started official impeachment , with a vote in the house for them to proceed ...

They have to investigate whether there is good reason to have an official impeachment... with articles of impeachment drawn up, before they can have an impeachment.

you can't just nilly willy say, ''we are impeaching the president'' for goodness sake... OF COURSE there is such a thing as an impeachment investigation or an impeachment inquiry before the judicial committee decides to impeach and write up the Articles of impeachment for the house to vote on...
