They lose and immediately the chorus begins. Republicans must change or die. A rump party of white America, it must adapt to evolving demographics or forever be the minority.

The only part of this that is even partially true regards Hispanics. They should be a natural Republican constituency: striving immigrant community, religious, Catholic, family-oriented and socially conservative (on abortion, for example).

The principal reason they go Democratic is the issue of illegal immigrants. In securing the Republican nomination, Mitt Romney made the strategic error of (unnecessarily) going to the right of Rick Perry. Romney could never successfully tack back.

For the party in general, however, the problem is hardly structural. It requires but a single policy change: Border fence plus amnesty. Yes, amnesty. Use the word. Shock and awe — full legal normalization (just short of citizenship) in return for full border enforcement.

I believe the Republicans stall Illegal Alien law reform until after the midterms, and then permit Rubio to use it as a promise to cakewalk into the presidency in '12.

Sucks, but pandering wins elections.

As I mentioned in another thread, Ted Cruz and Jeff Flake both won in states with large Latino constituencies....Yet the dour pessimistic hand wringers in the GOP keep ignoring the success stories, in favor of insisting that the path to victory is by being better democrats than the democrats.

It's not the arrow, not the Indian.

Hispanics are interested in hispanics FIRST, they are not Americans, they are still mexicans, el salvadorans, columbians. Their loyalty is still to their home country. Americans exist to pay THEM and give them things. If hispanics are a natural republican constituency why do hispanic countries reject everything that would improve their conditions and make them more successful? Because they aren't natural republicans. They are natural villagers who get paid for being democrat. They are used to gangs protecting the villages, at home the same way those gangs control hispanic neighborhoods here.

Maybe you should ask yourself why those Latinos left those despotic hell holes for America.

How do you expect to attract their votes by threatening to send them back?

I live in a community with a large Latino/Mexican populace, they work hard, party hard and they do assimilate to the trends of US decadence. Their children do not want their native homelands and they do act like US citizens.

We must buy them candy and tell more of them to come. That is what we must do. More candy, more illegals,, it's just great.

Remember, he is an open-border narco-Libertarian / anarchist.

Don't take him seriously.

The dialog must begin Barretta. Unfortunately you must prepare yourself for the innevitable insults of being a sellout and possibly even told you don't belong in the party.

I don't belong to "the party" so they can say what they will. I tend to identify more with the Republican party but I am registered as an Independent and I have voted across party lines in years past. Hard to believe but true. He may have lost but I still feel Romney would have been a better choice but it is...what it is.

Not saying that at all, and you know it.

As it is with dropping the social issue swill, the republicans need to give up the idea that they can scoop up millions of people, sort them all out, and export them back to where they came from....Maintaining and securing the border is another issue entirely.
