It seems that due to a revelation from "god," the Mormon "Pope" decrees that one should no longer refer to this religion as the "Mormons," or even "LDS." The full title should be used at all times, except for historical references to places and events and what-not. And of course we can still call The Book of Mormon, "The Book of Mormon."

But shall we continue to listen to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Tabernacle Choir?

Methinks that people, being who they are, are not going to spit out that whole thing in casual conversation, and eventually they will be referred to - as they currently refer to themselves in internal conversations - as the "Saints" (no relation to the New Orleans football team of the same name).

Could this be what the Pope is hoping for (but not saying)?

Will referring to a Mormon as a Mormon now be considered a micro-aggression? A hate crime? Will they be offended? Oy woy!

Mormons have a Pope?

Anyways, they formed a cult that seems to have successfully made them productive and nice. They can call themselves whatever they like IMO so long as their culty social agenda stays out of our laws.

In a revelation given through Joseph Smith on April 26, 1838, the name of the church was established by the Lord.

Doctrine and Covenants 115:1-6
1 Verily thus saith the Lord unto you, my servant Joseph Smith, Jun., and also my servant Sidney Rigdon, and also my servant Hyrum Smith, and your counselors who are and shall be appointed hereafter;
2 And also unto you, my servant Edward Partridge, and his counselors;
3 And also unto my faithful servants who are of the high council of my church in Zion, for thus it shall be called, and unto all the elders and people of my Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, scattered abroad in all the world;
4 For thus shall my church be called in the last days, even The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
5 Verily I say unto you all: Arise and shine forth, that thy light may be a standard for the nations;
6 And that the gathering together upon the land of Zion, and upon her stakes, may be for a defense, and for a refuge from the storm, and from wrath when it shall be poured out without mixture upon the whole earth.

It was through our use of the Book of Mormon that those outside the church began to call us Mormons. However, to members of the church, we refer to ourselves as Latter-day Saints. But when speaking of the church, we don't want people to call our church the Mormon Church. Why? Because the Lord revealed that the name of the church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We want to correct the misconception about the name of our church. We are not the Mormon Church. We are The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mormon was a prophet in the Book of Mormon who abridged the ancient records of many prophets into a single volume. Thus his abridgment is The Book of Mormon. It was through Mormon's son Moroni, who appeared to Joseph Smith as an angel and directed him to the buried plates that contained the record. The Book of Mormon is a second witness of Jesus Christ who appeared unto his other sheep which were not of the fold in Israel but in ancient America. The Book of Mormon is the stick of Joseph spoken of in Ezekiel 37. The church is not Mormon's church but the Lord Jesus Christ's church. Thus we believe it should be called by his name.

As an added note, some people call us The Church of the Latter-day Saints. But that leaves out the name of the one who really established the church, Jesus Christ. We believe that it is the same church organization that Jesus established nearly 2000 years ago. We believe that He restored his church to the earth after it had fallen into apostasy shortly after the deaths of the apostles. Upon reestablishing his church on the earth, He called it, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to distinguish it from His church he established among his former-day Saints. It is a church with Jesus at the head and under his direction he has called prophets and apostles, seventy, high priests, bishops, elders, priests, teachers, deacons, etc.

Jesus didn't apply the books the entitled Book of Mormon to anyone living in Judea. And no one in Judea was called a Latter Day Saint, even though it seems that the Apostles did seem to believe in the eminente return of Christ --- they certainly didn't fully comprehend fully the prophetic message Jesus gave to them.

Luke 10:1,17
1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.

Hebrews 5:1
1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:

2 Timothy 4

1 Timothy 3:10
10 And let these also first be aproved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.

These and other offices of the priesthood are found in the church that Jesus established. What churches on the face of the earth today have all of these offices that the Lord established? How many churches have 12 apostles? How long were 12 apostles to be called and lead in the church?

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

From my first post:

Nobody is saying that those who lived in Israel had the Book of Mormon.

Did you have some point you were trying to make?

My point is that you are likely the one being conned by your own belief system.

1) There is no "Mormon Pope"
2) the Church was given it's proper name in 1838. Before then it was just called the Church of Christ.
3) nothing wrong with being accurate
4) we were told more guidelines for this counsel will be forthcoming.
5) I suspect this comes now to reiterate the point that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the restoration of the Church Jesus established during His ministry. It's His Church. He directs it. He is the head.

Mormons represent the 2nd most gullible of the human species, right behind Scientologists.

Mormons get their asses raped and have to conform to Secular morality, because their Book is incompetent and doesn't withstand the test of times.

For example, their book says they "shall be a white and a delightsome people." They waited until the 1970s, when Society forced them to evolve, to even let Black folks become priests. Hard to reconcile when the dummies avow that their leaders speak directly from God.

Most religions evolve to social construction demands over time. The big question right now is when can sisters partake in the priesthood.

That's the sticking point. An omniscient being with absolute morality wouldn't need to wait for secular humans to enlighten themselves towards less barbaric morality....he'd/she'd/it would have known and taught it from the beginning.*

*If we are speaking of the Gods of the major earthly religions. An attribute of most of them is an unchanging nature.

Most organized religion is developed by humans who have rules that change with the times. Utah is a fun place to live :lol:

All, in my view. (instead of most)

But thats not what they PROCLAIM regarding their moral system. They proclaim its from their God, and then delight us with pseudo-psychological sophistry when the morality of the god in their book.....doesn't pass for civility in secular society.
