The US was founded on the principle that "all men are created equal"...yet the nation began with the genocide & land theft of Native American Men

Just revisiting the OP.
Most countries were founded on invasions, wars and so on.
But only the US is seemingly blind to the contradictions in its founding principles.
All men were not equal when the men who penned that were fucking their slaves. Its a strange "manifest destiny" that includes the robbing and slaughter of the folk who were already there.

Recognising this is not a sign of weakness. The US is not going to be handed back to the Apaches.

But the US is conflicted by its past actions, like many other nations, and will need to deal with it in order to give all of its citizens a fair shake.

We founded this nation on some pretty high ideals. It took a bit of work to live up to. And we are still working on it today.

The answer is not self hatred. THe answer is not to allow foreigners to mass rape your white children.

Moron....they put down founding ideas that we are working to create....you moron........those "Folk," who were already there? Were slaughtering each other long before the Americans came.......and in some cases putting each other into cooking pots for dinner.....

And as a Brit....you should really think about your own past....you nitwit.......Europeans and AFricans have a lot to apologize for if we use IM2s standard..........

"If you go back through Comanche history, you see that they were the ones who stopped the Spanish from coming North," he explains. "Why did the French stop coming west from Louisiana? Comanches. ... Here was why the West Coast and the East Coast settled before the middle of the country. Here was why there was basically a 40-year wait before you could develop the state of Texas or before other Plain states could be developed."

On what the raid on the Parker fort was like

"This is what Indians did to Indians and this just happened to be Indians meeting whites. But the automatic thing in battle is that all the adult males would be killed. That was automatic. That was one of the reasons that Indians fought to the death. The white men were astonished by it but they were assumed that they would be killed. Small children were killed. Very small children were killed. A lot of the children in say, the 3-10 range were often taken as captives. The women were often raped and often killed. And all of the people in those settlements back in those years knew what a Comanche raid was — knew what a Comanche raid meant. ... And it's an interesting kind of moral question as a historian about Plains Indians or American Indians in general.

You have to come to terms with this — with torture, which they practiced all across the West — and these kind of grisly practices that scared white people to death."

On rewriting history to leave out Native American atrocities

"There was even an attempt at one point to deny that Indians were warlike.

Comanches were incredibly warlike. They swept everyone off the Southern plains. They nearly exterminated the Apaches.

And you know, if you look at the Comanches and you look back in history at Goths and Vikings or Mongols or Celts — old Celts are actually a very good parallel. In a lot of ways, I think we're looking back at earlier versions of ourselves. We — being white European — did all of those things. Not only that but torture was institutionalized during things like the Counter-Reformation and the Spanish Inquisition and the Russian Revolution."
The actions of the British empire is a stain on our history. We have much to be ashamed of and a re-balance is much overdue.

"Rebalance"? How exactly will the be done?

Yeah, America slaughtered indigenous Indians when Indians were considered to be sub-human. It's old news and it's the sad truth but what about humans today who are stabbed in the back of the head and their brains sucked out because modern bigots will not acknowledge the fact that full term babies have the same rights as everyone else?

And Aztecs slaughterd 10s of thousands to dedicate their temples....and for dinner........as well as the Commanche, and others........all early humans were cruel........and now with Christianity....we have civilization no matter how the secularists want to deny it...

And don't forget guns....

i speak the truth, and y'all cant handle it!

What the American government did to the Native Americans makes the story of slavery look like a walk in the park in comparison.

What the NAs did to other Native Americans makes the story of slavery look like a walk in the park in comparison.

Much like the story behind many of the African tribes warring with each other before the Portuguese arrived... Slavery was a common practice throughout the world by all races for thousands of years.
