The US was founded on the principle that "all men are created equal"...yet the nation began with the genocide & land theft of Native American Men

Just revisiting the OP.
Most countries were founded on invasions, wars and so on.
But only the US is seemingly blind to the contradictions in its founding principles.
All men were not equal when the men who penned that were fucking their slaves. Its a strange "manifest destiny" that includes the robbing and slaughter of the folk who were already there.

Recognising this is not a sign of weakness. The US is not going to be handed back to the Apaches.

But the US is conflicted by its past actions, like many other nations, and will need to deal with it in order to give all of its citizens a fair shake.
Americans want to believe the fairy tales we were indoctrinated with in public school. We want to believe we have the best of everything and we’re the greatest nation and society that ever existed. We want to believe our government is of of, by, and for the people. We want to believe our government governs only with the consent of the people.

It’s hard for many Americans to accept the fact that the above is all bull shit. Even though it’s clearly evident.

Slavery is long been out of the picture

~S~
And here comes the silly argument about how slavery is still going on when this discussion is about the founding of America.

And yet when we talk about slavery in America you don't blame Africans...at all......considering without African slave takers there would be no slavery.......without Arab slave traders there wouldn't be African slavery today....so blow it out your ass...you don't know what you are talking about.........

The violence of African tribes against each other, the violence of Asian warlords all through out their history....not to forget the 70 million Chinese murdered by Chinese.....or the millions murdered by Japan during the 1940s.....and their rampant racism....

You are an idiot who understands very little about truth, facts and reality.

Humans have acted inhumanely throughout history. To say that stating this fact means one is defending abuses that took place in the "New World" is absurd.
Everyone had slaves at some time. Everyone conquered the land they lived on at some time. It will only serve to continue bitterness and violence to do anything other than learn our lessons, forgive ourselves and each other, and not repeat the mistakes.
Those who wish to prolong the process do so for nefarious purposes.
Oh boy. here we go with the everybody in history has had slaves garbage. We're 160 years past slavery and the issue is the impact of white racism since slavery that has negatively impacted people of color now. Things like, black codes, vagrancy laws, contract labor, share cropping, the company store, racial massacres by whites, racist public policy, restrictive covenants, redlining, contract selling, racist housing policy, and modern or aversive racism. Slavery is long been out of the picture. Those who keep wanting to limit this to a discussion of slavery are the ones doing so for nefarious purposes.
You might want to reread his post, because you clearly misrepresented it.
No I did not.
"It will only serve to continue bitterness and violence to do anything other than learn our lessons, forgive ourselves and each other, and not repeat the mistakes."
So true. No truer words have ever been stated.

However it appears humans have a tendency to hang on to old grievances and hatred. It takes leadership to overcome these things. Sadly we have many leaders like Obama, who use these things to divide us rather than unite us, purely for political benefit.

Moron....they put down founding ideas that we are working to create....you moron........those "Folk," who were already there? Were slaughtering each other long before the Americans came.......and in some cases putting each other into cooking pots for dinner.....

And as a Brit....you should really think about your own past....you nitwit.......Europeans and AFricans have a lot to apologize for if we use IM2s standard..........

"If you go back through Comanche history, you see that they were the ones who stopped the Spanish from coming North," he explains. "Why did the French stop coming west from Louisiana? Comanches. ... Here was why the West Coast and the East Coast settled before the middle of the country. Here was why there was basically a 40-year wait before you could develop the state of Texas or before other Plain states could be developed."

On what the raid on the Parker fort was like

"This is what Indians did to Indians and this just happened to be Indians meeting whites. But the automatic thing in battle is that all the adult males would be killed. That was automatic. That was one of the reasons that Indians fought to the death. The white men were astonished by it but they were assumed that they would be killed. Small children were killed. Very small children were killed. A lot of the children in say, the 3-10 range were often taken as captives. The women were often raped and often killed. And all of the people in those settlements back in those years knew what a Comanche raid was — knew what a Comanche raid meant. ... And it's an interesting kind of moral question as a historian about Plains Indians or American Indians in general.

You have to come to terms with this — with torture, which they practiced all across the West — and these kind of grisly practices that scared white people to death."

On rewriting history to leave out Native American atrocities

"There was even an attempt at one point to deny that Indians were warlike.

Comanches were incredibly warlike. They swept everyone off the Southern plains. They nearly exterminated the Apaches.

And you know, if you look at the Comanches and you look back in history at Goths and Vikings or Mongols or Celts — old Celts are actually a very good parallel. In a lot of ways, I think we're looking back at earlier versions of ourselves. We — being white European — did all of those things. Not only that but torture was institutionalized during things like the Counter-Reformation and the Spanish Inquisition and the Russian Revolution."

The actions of the British empire is a stain on our history. We have much to be ashamed of and a re-balance is much overdue.

So like I said, America is paying the price for unrepentant people such as you.
But people like you ain't sinned at all...

~S~
Haven't said that. But we are talking about what America was founded on and just because that implicates whites of evil doesn't mean you get to create all these diversions, gaslight and everything else that's being done here.

And implicates the Native Americans in evil......the torture, war, cannibalism.....all existed before the Europeans came...then you look at Asian atrocities, African Atrocities......

You seek to blame one race when it was simply early humans doing these things before Christianity came along and civilized most of the world.

Also, guns....guns made it possible for non warriors to beat back warriors. You will notice that civilization, peaceful civilization didn't exist until the invention of the gun...........that made the farmer equal to the warrior, trained at war from youth, and capable of defending themselves....

Yes you did.
Of course to you I did. Because that's an excuse you believe.
His post was about more than slavery. Sadly, you’re stuck on slavery and can’t get out. As such, you’re blind to the big picture.

And if he is stuck on slavery he should take on all slavery....Asians enslaving Asians, Africans enslaving Africans......Arabs enslaving everyone.......

There is no Stain on Britain, the United States, Japan, China.........those people who committed those acts no longer exist........to try to hold their acts over the heads of people who didn't do them, weren't even born....is simply extortion....of the lazy kind.

Most Americans know the native Americans could be ruthless. There were terrible atrocities committed by both sides. Our government was certainly ruthless toward the Native American tribes.

You mention the Comanche. I knew they were a warlike tribe but had no idea how ruthless and powerful they were, until I read this great book.

Early humans were violent.......all over the world, you tool......... and if you look at the modern period...say, from 1917 forward........

Re-balance..........splain that lol
We exploited African countries for centuries , took all of their natural resources and then left them as "independent nations" without any of the structures in place to run a modern democracy. We created arbitrary borders that stoked sectarian tensions and led to wars and genocide.
I suggest that the first step would be asking these countries what they would like us to do.

And all of the people in those settlements back in those years knew what a Comanche raid was — knew what a Comanche raid meant. ...

I heard about this book on the Joe Rogan podcast when he was talking with comedian Tom Pappa............it is amazing the lies the left wing historians tell to protect minorities from their real history.......

You left incredible structures in place after you left........the countries that embraced those structures are countries like India......while the African nations got rid of them and now suffer for it.....that's on them, not you...

If you hadn't been there, dumb ass....they would have slaughtered each other and are still slaughtering each other in many places....it isn't on you...it is on them...you dumb ass...

Now that is about as patronizing a proposition as one could make. You want to degrade these people (further) by having them ask for help to become themselves? Current knowledge and technology are available to all. Inventiveness is common to all. There are no significant secrets that would impede any country from developing its resources, human or natural. Do you really want us to believe that, after all, these people are inferior?

Exactly....well said. It is a paternalistic racism of these guys that leads them to see these other countries.......with people with different skin colors......as incapable of advancing their countries.....

most white americans claim and even deeply believe that racism ended in 1865 with the end of slavery. i've got some bad news for those white americans...

No one has ever said that.

THat being said, most indians died from disease, not anything we whites did on purpose.
