America's decision, drafted in President Joseph Biden's Proclamation, to ban travel from the country of South Africa and other southern African countries over this new Covid 19 virus variant (omicron) is both unwise and unvirtuous! Many medical experts have gone on the public record stating as much saying such a move is counterproductive it is penalizing developing countries for coming forth and disclosing that they have a Covid 2 virus variant in their country which is critically important that they do so because once disclosed the pharmaceutical companies can test the variant against their vaccines to determine the respective vaccine's efficacy and can begin making a vaccine that specifically targets the variant giving these Drug companies valuable time to produce a targeted vaccine which will save many lives if the currently distributed vaccines don't work well on the variant. What the White House travel ban and other countries travel bans do to these "restricted entry" countries is significantly hurt them economically it prevents their people from travelling to conduct commerce. This meaningful economic harm to these targeted countries is a very serious matter these countries are economically struggling countries. Developing countries throughout the world that see what the U.S. and other overly self-interested countries are doing with their ban to South Africa which acted like a realy good country, one that showed great concern about the family of nations, with their disclosure that a new more contagious variant has appeared in South Africa will be thinking to themselves let us avoid disclosing a variant in our country if one appears because we don't want to be hurt like South Africa. It's easy for leaders of the these developing countries to morally justify such a move by reasoning that by the time our country's health care system identifies a more dangerous variant the spread of the variant is almost certainly widespread in our country and with high rates of international travel throughout the world it is probably already lose in the world so disclosing it won't stop the spread it will only significantly hurt us economically so we shan't disclose. Remember to identify a variant a genetic test must be done on the covid 2 virus which gave someone Covid 19 and how many people that get Covid 19 don't end up being admitted to a hospital they recover or die on their own (so they don't submit their virus to a medical lab for genetic testing) and for those people that are admitted to the hospital with Covid 19 how many don't get a genetic sequence on the virus making them sick because it uses up too much time of limited medical lab personnel and resources.

The White House's ban is really stupid even on its face because it only bans foreigners from traveling from banned countries to the U.S. it does not restrict U.S. citizens and U.S permanent residents from entry into the U.S. from these restricted countries and does not require the quarantining of these Americans and American permanent residents. So if the purpose of the ban is to stop the spread of the variant virus this category of people can surely contract the variant in southern Africa and if there is no restriction on movement of these people into and throughout American society they surely can be sources of spread of the variant in America!

I am not saying the U.S. government should not do anything with the new development of this worse variant appearing in southern Africa. There should be a two week quarantine mandate on all people, both U.S. citizens and foreign nationals, traveling from these south African countries to the U.S.; a quarantine will identify travelers with the variant so they can be blocked from spreading the variant in America. Further, until this new variant is better understood and it is determined that existing vaccines will largely stop people that have caught the new variant from being admitted into the hospital or dying from the disease "visa approval" for nationals traveling from these restricted countries "should not be allowed" for people that wish to travel to America for vacation or personal pleasure, one would have to have a business or an education or a medical need, etc. reason to receive a visa; the reason for the visa restriction is to reduce the logistic challenges of effectuating a quarantine mandate. With the Covid 19 pandemic and so many people in developing countries not having been vaccinated the U.S. government should be anticipating worrisome variants appearing in the world and should have plans for quarantining travelers, the U.S. government should have plans to route planes under quarantine to airports close to U.S. military bases and quarantine foreign nationals that are not U.S. permanent residents on these bases buying large number of house trailers if need be to carry out the quarantine.

The U.S. and other developed countries only thinking of themselves with this Omicron variant with their throwing these southern African countries out of the boat to fend for themselves to avoid drowning should change course and at minimum extend a hand of friendship to these countries by doing the following. That when it is known that existing vaccines still keep most of those vaccinated from being admitted into the hospital and dying even with the new variant and this vital information will be known within days send an abundance of vaccine doses to these endangered southern Africa countries so they can vaccinate their people and survive the onslaught of this new variant!

In defense of President Biden, what the hell else can he do? The only policies he's had any success with have been those of President Trump.

I knew Joe Biden was a racist but I had no idea he was into apartheid.

This is an argument in favor of Big Pharm. Amazing.

So, lockdowns, travel restrictions are now bad if it hurts the big Pharmaceutical companies.

Of course, if this had been a Republican President, it would be racist as well.
