In fact, this word comes from the Moghuls, the country of Genghis Khan was Moghulistan itself, this is the modern East Turkestan occupied by China, which they call "Xinjiang". Uighurs live there, and they are not Tungus, they have an appearance that is commonly called "European", although in fact it is a Ural-Indian type. Kazakhstan also has their diaspora. They are similar to the Urals and Western Ukrainians.

The other people of Genghis Khan are the Hazaras, they live in Khazarjat, the land occupied by the Afghan Pashtuns.

Both nationalities were previously part of Turkestan. More earlier, their lands were Moghulistan, common with the Land of northern India.

Many Kazakhstani Uighurs look something like Americans, and it is clear that they are not Tungus (Evenks, Manchus).

Perhaps the Tungus did not even have horse breeding. There is no information about how they got it.

Both of these peoples are subjected to genocide by China and the Taliban. The Khazars living in Pakistan are also being destroyed.

Tungus/Evenks/Manchus are a people who originate from Transbaikalia. Perhaps they have some degree of kinship with the historical Mongols, at the level of mixing, but in general they are different peoples.

Most likely the Mongols were about the same group of peoples as the Huns of Attila. And the Huns of Attila came from the Volga region. The Volga itself was previously called "Itil".
All these tribes are descended from the ancient Aryans. Their regions of living and horse breeding cultures largely coincided.

And the grandfather of Genghis Khan was called Kabul Khan. It has something to do with Kabul.

The word "khan" itself is obviously also associated with the Aryans, because one of the epithets of Indra is Vritra-Khan - which means "saddling Serpent Vritra" or "defeating Serpent Vritra".

All this confusion is the result of dirty British policy in the Asian region and destroing of Turkestan.
