Behind the GM Strike: Economic Power Begins to Tilt Toward Labor

Ten years ago, the UAW accepted a tiered system of wages for autoworkers, allowing carmakers to pay new hires lower wages and give them smaller retirement packages. Now, after tens of billions of profits that benefitted GM shareholders, the union is asking for a return to worker parity.

So as usual the rich elitist CEO snobs want to get richer off of the working man's back while keeping them in poverty wages....as I suspected. Good for the unions!

You seem to forget that Oboingo illegally shafted the Class A bondholders, in order that the workers could stay employed.
That's between Obama and GM...has nothing to do with the workers then or now. They had a deal to HELP GM and now GM is back on its feet and the CEO's want to keep getting rich off of others hard work..they screwed US the taxpayer AND are screwing their workers.

No argument here...Just saying that many of these people wouldn't even have jobs were it not for federal intervention....Not taking any sides, just pointing out some other factors.

The Murican auto industry has become one hot mess.

It’s the American Way for the money to flow to the top.

Hopefully the UAW prevails. GM will probably just close the plants and move production to Mexico or China, and our government will do nothing to protect those jobs.
