The Trump Second Term. Lost already?

The Democrats should be pounding the lectern for a complete clean sweep of the White House AND Congress. As long as the GOP holds the majority in the Senate, it won't much matter if the Democrats win the White House. Just ask Obama.

The Dems need to make the case that not only does Donald Trump need to go, so does Mitch McConnell. They need to put a big target on both of them. The Dems need to make it very clear they need 60 seats in the Senate.

The Dems are on the right track with health care. They totally own that issue, and it is a very important one to the American people. The GOP has demonstrated for decades they don't give a flying fuck about the American people paying ever higher health care costs as they give tax cuts to the one percent.

The Dems could easily own this election if they weren't so talented at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Nonsense. Reagan never had a Republican majority. Clinton’s signature achievement, Welfare Reform was accomplished with Republican control of the House and Senate.

Republicans did not have a 60 seat majority with Bush. Absolute nonsense.

All of them accomplished their goals with public pressure. Getting the public behind their agendas. If the public is with you then partisanship is nothing but a small hurdle.

When the public is not behind you. It doesn’t matter what majority you have. Remember Bush 43 and the Amnesty fight? Republicans called their own base racists and what did the base do? Send tens of thousands of bricks to congress to build the wall.

That was the spark that lit the Tea Party. The next thing. The bailout of the banks was the fuel that fed the fire.

Reagan, Clinton, and others took their case to the public and won. Bush, Clinton, and others took it to the public and lost. It isn’t about supermajorities. But the ability to get the public behind your ideals.

The rules of the Senate are not the same rules which existed at the time of Reagan and Clinton. They have been changed and utterly corrupted.

The only way to restore the old ways is with a clean sweep.

Reagan had a Republican majority in the Senate in his first term, and a Republican majority in the House in the second half of his second term.

Clinton's signature achievement was being impeached over a blowjob.

And the deregulation of derivatives which led to the Great Recession.

Silly rabbit, the Dems held the House from 1954 until 1994, uninterrupted.

Right now, Trump's ace in the hole is the Democratic Party. It's entirely possible that enough swing voters will look at (what has become of) the Democrats and say, "holy shit, Trump is an embarrassment and a nightmare, but those guys are ridiculous".

One of those "the devil you know" scenarios.

Aside from that, Trump's primary hold on swing voters is the economy. The Fed is about to move in to shore up the cracks that are showing up, and maybe that will work. There's no way to know what the economy will look like in 15 months.
.

Exactly.
The Democrats simply refuse to understand, or come to terms with, how Trump won.
Specifically... it was their own doing.
Instead they have doubled down with their seemingly desire to alienate as many people as possible.
Perfectly said... "I don't want Trump again... but I am NOT voting for these idiots"
"I don't want Trump or these idiots".

That's when previous Trump voters stay home on election day, and Trump loses.

I really thought, in fact I do believe I said this several times here right after the election - that Trump was a one term President because the Dems would realize what just happened and run someone more appealing to voters than Hillary Clinton. That or Trump would fuck up so bad there was no way he would win again.
Neither has happened.
Despite CNN and the rest working very-very hard to demonize this President 24/7, the people aren't buying it. But it goes will beyond that, what they REALLY aren't buying is how the party is moving far left.

Joe Biden?
Really?

You filth need to go.

If you are honest you would clamp down on that bullet and give up on a 2020 democrat victory. Democrats are now in a frenzy of self destruction. The squad is determined to primary democrats determined not to be sufficiently loyal to pocmarks. Race has taken over with the DCCC throwing out the very people who brought victory in 2018 because they are not diverse enough. The entirety of the democrat platform is impeach Trump. Why do they have to impeach him? Because they cannot win the election.

They had a lot to do with it, but they refuse to see it. Or maybe they really don't.

A lot of the party has bought into the madness. I guess one key question will be whether they'll vote if a crazy is not nominated. I'm guessing they will because of Trump, but I guess you never know.
.
What all of us "normals" have the most to fear about is a brain-washed, completely misinformed young population. Anyone who is a big fan of "the squad" can only be that fan if they are mindlessly blind to reality. And they are.
They are also the ones who do actually buy the 24 hr. a day anti-Trump media parade.
As time goes by and more and more indoctrinated/misinformed young population get to voting age - the greater the chance the crazies will actually come to power.
And the corporatist/elitist finally win it all.

If you are honest, you will realize that a Trump Second Term is at best, a coin toss at this point. There are a lot of reasons for this, and I want to take a moment to compare and contrast this Administration, with another one from history. I want to show you where Trump went wrong, the mistakes he made.
This is more proof Dems are delusional.

Ok. Help me out. We are withdrawing troops from Afghanistan. Why? Is it because we are winning? Have won? Perhaps Trump has figured out it is not something that is winnable. We do not know what the Administration is thinking do we? Why not? Because we have spent how long arguing about Baltimore and if the criticism is Racist.

The office has the Bully Pulpit. Trump or any President can use it to take the message to the people directly. Reagan used it brilliantly to sell Tax Cuts and a Military Increase. Reagan overcame critics on Star Wars with that power. Bush sold the people on Desert Storm from the Oval Office. Clinton used it. W used it. Even Obama used it.

Some failed to carry their message. Clinton and health care as one example. Some faced huge backlash despite that pulpit. Bush 43 and amnesty. But the power to take the message to the people is right there. So why does Trump ignore this power and instead allow himself to get distracted and worse elevate his opponents with Twitter?

Without Trump AOC and the Squad would be a darling of extreme lefties utterly ignored by the world Media. If they even could get elected. What is Trump doing in response to two Tankers seized by Iran? Trump played into Democratic hands with the two year budget deal. Now during election season, Government spending is a dead issue. There are no votes coming up, nothing happening for months after the election on the budget.

Trump’s biggest selling points are the economy and waste in Government. Half that is off the table. How can he rail about Government waste when he signed the budget? If he tries, his detractors will say you negotiated it big guy.
