CHINA GIVING 6 300 Mega Watt NUCLEAR REACTORS TO PAKISTAN.

Keep watching this space for more details.

Chinese President Hu Jintao who will be visiting India and Pak this year will be holding discussions with Pak President Gen Musharraf. High on his agenda will be the construction of approx 6 300-350 nuke reactors to Pak. This is in response to the Indo-US nuke deal as China dosen't want Pak to lag behind in the nuclear race in Asia. This is very disturbing when you look back at CHina's massive hand in Pak's nuclear program. The Chinese have been selling missiles to Pak (which is a U.S ally) and have helped the Pakistanis in their Ghauri missiles and recently in the guidance system of the Pakistani nuclear capable Hatf missile. This makes it all the more necessary for India for the nuke deal with AMerica to go through. The Chinese are clearly using Pakistan to do their "dirty job" by keeping economically booming India at bay in Kashmir while China becomes the undisputed military and economic superpower of Asia. India needs nuclear energy for its economic prosperity. We also need to make sure we don't lag behind China and Pak militarly.
I just pray the nuke deal goes through...

We definately need to back India in this region. They are the last "real" ally in that part of the world. Pakistan is not our ally.

This is exactly what I wanted to say. India can become America's most important ally in the Asian sub-continent IF both the nations solve their issues amicably.

I will not comment on the thread headline.
But to correct something:

Pakistan started its nuclear program in 1972. Abdul Kadir Khan, the father of the Pakistani bomb, joined the program in 1976.
India tested its first nuclear bomb in 1974. India started its nuclear program way before Pakistan started it in 1972 and the man who made the Pakistani bomb possible joined in 1976.

An nuclear India has automatically forced Pakistan to go the same way.
So the country who started this nuclear race is India, not Pakistan.

So the help Pakistanis got from Chinese during their nuclear program was welcomed by Pakistan. Would Pakistan have not been forced to become nuclear to any price, maybe Pakistan-China relations were not that multi-faceted as they are now.

Plus the nuclear arsenal of India is modernized. Their warheads consist of plutonium warhead. Pakistan still has uranium warheads, which weigh 1. more, 2. are materially bigger, and 3. are therefore more complicated to mount on missiles.

Uranium warheads are more suited to be thrown by bombers.
So Pakistan has to modernize its nuclear arsenal to make use of nuclear material for missiles such as the "Babür".

To the US-India nuclear deal:
India agrees to allow inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Association (IAEA), the United Nations' nuclear watchdog group, access to its civilian nuclear program. But India would decide which of its many nuclear facilities to classify as civilian. Teresita Schaffer, director of the South Asia program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, says these will now include domestically built plants, which India has not been willing to safeguard before now. Military facilities—and stockpiles of nuclear fuel that India has produced up to now—will be exempt from inspections or safeguards.

For Pakistan it is logical to work together with China.
India by going nuclear boosted this cooperation between Pakistan and China.

Firstly it was China which prompted India to go nuclear. China deceived the world by starting its nuke reactor in the 60's for "peaceful purposes " and then started building its missile arsenal. I don't want to start talking about how they invaded us in 1962. But let me tell you Pak is nothing without China. Just as Pakistan needs China for its nukes and military , China needs Pakistan to keep India at bay in Kashmir. China is using Pak to do its dirty job by keeping the Indian military concentrated on Kashmir. Kashmir was literally sucking in the Indian troops.Pakistan an China(indirectly) are promoting terror in the Kashmir Valley. China also says that the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh belongs to them (even though Arunachal Pradesh belongs to India since 1947). The CHinese crossed our borders. Even now the Chinese recently said that Arunachal Pradesh belongs to them. Pakistan and CHina have a strategic relationship aimed at keepng India militarily and economically weak. Where Pakistan has succeeded in keeping India's military thoroughly engaged there China has made sure India's economy won't match theirs. But , India has risen both economically and militarily. But , India cannot tackle Pak and China both together. India's economic/military aim is to be a global superpower within Asia and that is precisely why India needs America's help (which it right now considers its ally). India cannot have Pak and CHina both outclassing it militarily.China already is more powerful then India and now wants Pak also to take over India militarily...But I am sure India won't allow that. Looking at the current progress in India's military we can surely match China's military by 2010.
