The trade war with China is over. China won.

China gave in a little yet it is still going on

I'm more concerned will world war three ever end and will these crushing tariff keep on impoverishing americans as the layoffs across the country keep mounting

During Trump's first 36 months in office, the US economy has gained 6.6 million jobs. But during a comparable 36-month period at the end of Obama's tenure, employers added 8.1 million jobs, or 23% more than what has been added since Trump took office.

The average monthly gain so far under Trump is 182,000 jobs. During the last 36 months under Obama, employers were adding an average of 224,000 jobs a month.

On Friday, the Labor Department reported that employers added a fairly robust 225,000 jobs in January. But it also made some revisions to past data, which lowered many previous job growth estimates. While some of the revisions go all the way back to the last century, most of the changes to data took place during 2018 and 2019. So the revisions reduced the gains during Obama's final three years by 47,000 jobs, but it reduced the gains during Trump's tenure by a total of 354,000 jobs.

We believe our wallets, and know that Fake News CNN lies to and hates us. They think they should be able to tell us who our President should be, rather than vote in the President of our choice. They are going on 4 years in a tantrum over Crooked Hillary losing the election, which shouldn't have surprised them. She's vile, ghastly, cold, corrupt, deliberately insulted voters, threatened their jobs, fell over without honest explanation and campaigned in the wrong states.

You folks predicted immediate and ongoing economic Apocalypse, and instead The Working Man, is seeing percentage wage jumps that are greatly out performing the higher wage earners and the CPI.

While Obama was President, we were told how great it was, but it didn't feel like our jobs were keeping up with costs.
While Trump's been President, we are told that it's not better at all, but, we have the money to buy the things we had to tell ourselves and families no to, while Obama was President. So who are we to believe? Our direct personal experience of the foaming at the mouth Fake News Liars?

And that Pelosi isn't right in the head, why is she the most powerful Democrat in the Nation when her mind is clearly a shell of what it was 25 years ago? Why aren't Democrats smart enough to pry the gavel out of her crazy fingers? Does she actually have to physically attack someone for you guys to see she is a long ways around the bend?

So, Trump's own appointed Sec. of Labor is lying in favor of Obama?

You're not very smart, are you? The obummer jobs were easy to produce because they were bouncing back from the great recession. Trumps jobs are hard to produce, and they pay better. try and keep up. I know it's hard for uneducated people, like you, but try.

If you don't want to understand why folks are excited about economic conditions today, and were not impressed with economic conditions under Obama, that's your right.

But, if you want to understand it, I've explained it to you.

It has to do with the amount of EARNINGS that your employment results in. How effectively your money stretches. Under Obama it wasn't good and we were told we should be satisfied, that no one could make it better. Well, they were wrong, it's MUCH better today that when Trump took office.

No. We are having no inflation issues at all. Trump started collecting additional tariffs in the middle of 2018 and we did not see the spike in consumer prices proclaimed by the prophets of doom, in fact, we saw nothing even resembling your claim 25% consumer price hikes.

So, by your logic, Chinese manufacturers were selling us goods with at least a 30% profit margin, and have absorbed the 25% tariff themselves, while still making at least 5% profit.

I have some terrific beach front property down here in Arizona that I will let you have for almost nothing!

Their profit margin is at least 100%. You don't understand manufacturing at all do you?

So, by your logic...
This isn't "my logic" these are facts. Tariffs did NOT cause a spike in US consumer prices.
... Chinese manufacturers were selling us goods with at least a 30% profit margin, and have absorbed the 25% tariff themselves, while still making at least 5% profit...
We have no idea what their starting profit margin was.

Let's take your example. If they sell a $100 worth of goods, they make $30-
With 25% tariffs - let's say they price it at $125. They may not even make 5% because it may not sell at all. If a substantially similar product is available from Vietnam for $102 then the Chinese item doesn't sell until the price drops.

And this likely occurred as China is no longer our top trading partner, Mexico is. So now instead of our number one trade partner working to build a global military to challenge us, now our number one trading partner is protecting our Southern Border from illegal entry and using their Marine Units to go after the drug cartels that ship illegal drugs over our border. You see Trump is very smart and leverages our international trade to benefit America First.

We spend no more on our consumer goods, but, instead of our trade surplus fueling a competing military power, it supports our border and protects it against human and drug trafficking.

What China does sell here they likely discount. What did sell for a hundred, now sells for $80 with the 25% tariff it's again priced at a hundred and they make $10 which sure as hell cuts into their profit margin. China hasn't been doing too well since they picked the fight with Trump they couldn't win. They seemed to be counting on Dems to drive him from office.... ooops!

Delusional is your middle name, right? Minimum wage laws are hurting employment.

They merely drive up inflation. But you have actually know how to think to figure those facts out.

Increased minimum wage increases employment? Who knew?

New Study Finds Raising Federal Minimum Wage Would Eliminate Hundreds of Thousands of Jobs

Data Show Wage Proposals Would Do Little to Reduce Poverty

WASHINGTON – Today, the Employment Policies Institute (EPI) released a new study examining proposals from Representative George Miller (D-CA) and Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) to raise the federal minimum wage to $9.80. According to EPI’s analysis of recent Census data, a wage hike of this magnitude is projected to eliminate as many as 768,000 jobs for less-skilled and less-experienced employees.

EPI’s full study and executive summary are available here:

That 25% will not go to china but rather to the US Treasury
Yup.

That spike on the right is all Trump's work, and it's $Billions flowing to the US Treasury. So yes, those tariffs are being paid.

fredgraph.png

But, as there is no accompanying inflation spike for US consumer goods, US consumers aren't paying them.
