T-29 was based on the Convair CV-240. It was introduced in 1947 as a Nav Trainer with 16 Radar/Nav Stations. I really don't know when it went out of service but it was still used at Pete Field for training Radar/Navs for the Air Force Academy. The official removal was Fed, 1975 but that's a lie since it was still being used in late 1975. Late 1970s, it was replaced by the Boeing T-43. The T-29 was originally conceived as a replacement for the C-47 which it did quite well at.

The C-131 was produced in 1954. Like the T-29, it was based on the CV-240 Convair. It's original useage was as a medivac hospital ship. At the Academy, it was used as a nav trainer as late as the late 1970s. Many got the T-29 and the C-131 mixed up. Hence the claim that the T-29 was decommissioned in Feb 1975. The C-131 (t-29) was decommisioned by the Air Force in the late 1970s. But the Navy continued using it as late as the mid 1980s.
