The Canaanites were prosperous and successful.. We know a great deal more about them since the discovery of Ras Shamra and the Ugarit writings... and archaeology has really helped.
This is more about demonizing the neighbors than the Cananites being evil. Most serious scholars now think the Hebrews were Northcoast Canaanites and Abraham was from Urfa near Haran.

This is a serious look at the Canaanite religion and at the Canaanites themselves.

In the ancient texts, “Canaan” refers to land, not ethnic groups and not culture, and “Canaanite” designates a person who is from the land of Canaan (cf. Ezek. 16:3). The land of Canaan appears to have been, loosely, the eastern seaboard of the Mediterranean.
Any communities in the region known now as southwestern Syria, Lebanon, Israel, western Jordan, and the Palestinian Authority might be designated Canaanite by an ancient scribe (Tammuz 2001). In some periods, “Canaan” was a political term. I think the differences between Israelite religion and others in Canaan comes from the Israelite exposure to the Egyptians religion and culture. The Canaanites were prosperous and successful.. We know a great deal more about them since the discovery of Ras Shamra and the Ugarit writings... and archaeology has really helped.
This is more about demonizing the neighbors than the Cananites being evil. Most serious scholars now think the Hebrews were Northcoast Canaanites and Abraham was from Urfa near Haran.
Archaeology would help more if states like Syria wouldn't prevent research once discovering of their significance to pre-Canaanite Hebrew civilization. Look the city of Ebla. Ras Shamra confirms most of what was already known from the Hebrew texts.
This was unlikely about demonization, since the Hebrew texts are focused mainly on harsh self-criticism than towards any other people. More so that the findings you've mentioned essentially confirm what was mostly known from those writings.

The infinitive, in Ugaritic as in other Semitic languages, can simply be the noun used as an infinitive. Again, this can only be determined by the context of the words used. 2- Stems: Ugaritic, like Hebrew, makes use of various stems (like Piel, Pual, etc.).
