When one considers the words of Historian Timothy Snyder discussing Hitler, many of the doctrines and descriptions of Progressivism fall into place, and become clear.



For Snyder, Hitler was less a madman than a disciple of Leftist thought. He, as well as Lenin and Stalin, learned their philosophies from Karl Marx.

He, and they, rejected the ideas that brought Western Civilization to fruition, and replaced it with the ideas of zoology: “In Hitler’s world, the law of the jungle was the only law. Most of the men she mentioned had views that changed over time, especially as they aged and became “respectable” leaders of parties or factions. I’m not interested in a quotation contest here.

Thomas Paine, most famous for publicly and radically denouncing Christian superstition, also frequently used Biblical stories to make his points. The Bible was the main book most Americans read in those days. Many were barely literate. As practical men, most politicians were cautious and careful not to offend the many diverse churches of the day. The “lack of Christian orthodoxy” mentioned ... was most revealing.

Of course Deism itself was largely an intellectual trend of educated people (in Europe as in America), though the common folk in North America in that revolutionary generation were far more interested in “Common Sense” than preachers, less “religious” than the generations that came before (or after). Deism, like the scientific discoveries of this era, took place in the Western world, so of course it was an historically Christian (specifically Protestant) culture, and not a Confucian or Muslim one, that permeated and even in ways sustained it.

Stalin didn't kill because he was anti-religion so much as he was pro-power. His. It was the political and cultural influence of the Church that threatened his authority and that is what he sought to extinguish.

The only religion Hitler was against was Judiasm. He was the heir to a long history of European anti-semitism and a good case can be made that anti-semitism was the invention of Christianity. If the genocide that befell the Jews has it roots in Christianity then Christianity must share the blame.

And where do you get your understanding of the book of Revelation? Can you post a link to what you consider a reliable source on this?

Revelation is prophetic and not limited to the fall of the Roman Empire which was the 6th head of the symbolic wild beast in Revelation 17:9,10 - the prophecy goes on to describe the 7th world power - the anglo-American world power and the 8 th king - do you know who/what the 8th king is?

Understanding the symbolism in Revelation requires in depth Bible study/research but the fact that Revelation 6:8 has been fulfilled concerning war and pestilence/plague has been fulfilled since 1914 (World War I) and the Spanish influenza pandemic in 1918.

Much simpler is the fact that man is ruining the earth in many ways and that God will soon bring to ruin those ruining the earth as foretold in Revelation I(Apocalypse) 11:18.
