You seem to be upset I am calling you for being off-topic, and can only think of saying that to me.

Are you done yet with your juvenile name-calling?

Can we “quote” you on that?

"In meeting the world's needs, however, the oil from the United States will continue to occupy a less and less dominant position, because within the next two to five years the oil fields of this country will reach their maximum production and from that on we will face an ever increasing decline."— October 23, 1919 Oil and Gas News

"As a nation, Americans have been reluctant to accept the prospect of physical shortages. We must recognize that world oil production will likely peak in the early 1990's, and from that point on will be on a declining curve. By the early part of the 21st century, we must face the prospect of running out of oil and natural gas." — 1977 US Department of Energy Organization Act

"Unfortunately, oil production will likely peak by 2020 and start declining. Without a change, developing countries will ultimately be left in the dark, and developed countries will struggle to keep the lights on. Conflict is inevitable. My guess is that this won't become a big issue unless there is a thalidomide event. We will have to see in the rear-view mirror that we are past the peak in worldwide oil production." — Richard Smalley, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, 1996

You remember when energy broker Matthew Simmons regurgitated Peak Oil? He sure made a lot of money with that farce.

All of you rude individuals, THIS IS THE SCIENCE FRAUD thread.

You're rude and inconsiderate.

Moderators, owner, if I ever had the notion to donate to the maintenance of this festering cesspool, your failure to do anything about these off-topic rants would stop me cold from
giving a dollar.

Why don't you post it under religion. Creation science is such a joke. By the time of Adam and Eve Sumer had a written language, irrigation, agriculture and sailboats.

There is no such thing as creation science.

It can't be science because it's untestable.

This same OP poster wants us to believe that just because a few fucktards misinterpreted the science, the science itself is evil.

This is the same poster who tries to pull a bogus statistical argument out of his butt to justify the impossibility of evolution. All too transparent.

What's interesting now, is that our brains use a genetic library just like our immune systems do. For instance there are 7 different kinds of glutamate receptors, they differ by oh... a few codons. They form homopolymers and heteropolymers, and the subunit composition is tightly regulated by neuronal processes. Because, each subunit type has different kinetics, and the neuron shapes its response by adjusting the subunit ratios.

The same protein responsible for muscle contraction (actin) is re-used in the brain to move glutamate receptor subunits to where they need to be, so they can polymerize with their siblings. The receptor enters the cell membrane by exocytosis, and it diffuses in the plane of the membrane "until" it associates with the actin scaffolding in the cytoskeleton, at which point it gets actively ratcheted along to where it's needed.

This process is very tightly regulated. There are only about a dozen receptors in a synaptic hot spot, and when one of them goes away it has to be replaced - and when one of them has to be replaced another one has to go away

This mechanism is ubiquitous in all vertebrates, it has not changed even an iota during evolution. In fact, the actin skeleton is even present in prokaryotes, which also require the targeting and accurate positioning of membrane proteins.

Actually, the bulk of the creation~genesis part of the Old Testament is lifted from the writings of Sumer.

I missed the part in your tedious cutting and pasting about the brutality and suffering that the religious institutions imposed on humanity with their wars of conquest and aggression.

The Catholic church never excommunicated Hitler.

The Catholic church grudgingly paid millions in compensation to the thousands of boys abused by the sex trafficking syndicate run by the church leadership but there was hardly any acknowledgement of the damage they caused.

As usual in your cutting and pasting, you try to connect a few sociopaths of the 20th Century socialist / Communist regimes with atheism and then try to connect atheism with the killing performed by those sociopaths. That theme appears in most of your cutting and pasting.

What you fail to understand is that the abuses by Mao, Lenin, etc were in furtherance of their political ideology and a function of their mental disorder. On the other hand, the wars of conquest and aggression by Christianity were in furtherance of spreading the religion. South American Indian babies, heathens, were baptized by the Conquistadors and then had their heads smashed in. Lovely!

The Crusades were about conquest and capture of territory.

Neither Lenin, Mao, Stalin, etc., used atheism as a rallying call.

You priests and their conquest of young boys, however....
very good recap. On Truman, if he was alive today he would not be a democrat, neither would Kennedy.

Well, "original science" is something few actually do. But I at least ask for credible references.

Oh, and please do not change what I say when quoting me. Editing a quote from another is really not cool unless it is for brevity. Changing what others say is trollish behavior, and should not be done.

very good recap. On Truman, if he was alive today he would not be a democrat, neither would Kennedy.

Very few Democrats from earlier than around 1970 would be allowed in the Party today. Mostly because for well over a century it was a very different party. None of the Kennedy clan would be allowed, or Roosevelt, Jefferson, Jackson, or even John Glenn or James Webb.

Hell, I doubt that even Joe Lieberman would be welcome with them anymore.

Stop it yourself.

Sumerian writing and records go back at least to about 4,000 BC.
Abram, whom came from a region of the northwest part of Sumer makes his pact with YHWH about 2000 BC, becoming Abraham.
Genesis is an abridged and altered variation of the Enuma Elish.

Actually, that is more like 2800 BCE.

Yes, there was "writing" before that, but it was purely record keeping with no form of "language" that was only symbolic. Essentially just an accountant shorthand. Essentially nothing more than who owned (or owed) how much of what items. It had no more context or "literary value" than any other pictographs. It was over a thousand years after it was first used that it actually advanced to what you are thinking of.

And the Old Testament was written down much later. From around 550-330 BCE. Prior to that it was entirely an oral tradition.

I'll agree there's a fairly consistent consensus on the Old Testament first being written @550-330 BCE.
As for Sumerian writing, that seems to remain an object of debate, compounded by the limited samples recovered to date. The window is somewhat open as to how far back one goes to see when the transition from pictograph to cunneiform happens;

The "Epic of Gilgamesh" further muddies the waters since it appears to have been written around 2100 BCE, but relates events that would have occurred hundreds or more years earlier.

Which is at a much later date. And in reality, the story is at least a thousand years older than that. But it is in around 2000 BCE that it was finally written down.

Even if there was "writing", most things that have been handed down like the Bible, Gilgamesh, Iliad and Odyssey, they were part of an even older oral tradition as literacy was extremely rare. We actually do not have the "original" versions of any of those. Only what was finally written down at a later date.
