The religious right and social conservatism are going to destroy the Republicans.

sadly the prayer is seen as the deed when it is not.
There are going to be a lot of shocked 'Christians' when they get to Heaven. Sitting in the pews on Sunday and claiming to have accepted Jesus as their savior yet not living the teachings of the Bible isn't what saves people.

No panacea for societal ills?

Honor your father and mother
Do not murder
Don not steal
Do not commit adultery
Do not envy / covet - be thankful for what you have
Love your fellow man
Treat everyone as you would like to be treated
In all things show kindness
Be generous
Do not cheat others (Zacceus, the tax collector)

Look outside yourself and our own problems / issues and understand those around you are also going through their own similar problems

Jesus did not hang out with as much with those who had been 'saved' - he sought out the lost, the abandoned, the sick, the lame, the lost

Where you see the teachings of Jesus are no 'panacea for societal ills' I see a 'how to' manual / teachings that, if learned / accepted / applied correctly / lived would solve just about all of our societal ills.

Unfortunately men are born of sin and it is our sin that has taken control, separated us from God, and has created our societal ills.

But that's just me. We disagree, and that's ok. I respect that and you.
you seem to think those ideas about behavior originated in the Old Testament.

They didn't.

And I do not believe a man is born a sinner. The only time all men are indeed equal is as a babe dependent on others for his very life.

That's another thing that seems self evident. Have you been to a day care? Do you see parents teaching their kids who to steal, lie, or hit each other? They seem to be selfish, and prone to evil form the very start.

If human beings are naturally good, and have no evil tendencies, where does all the evil and hate we see around us, come from?

And if you really do believe parents are teaching their kids to be evil, why are kids from broken homes, or end up without parents, end up the highest rates of imprisonment over those who grow up in intact families?

I know for my own sake, my father beat me when I was evil. That's how I learned to not be evil. True story.

The Socialist Democrat Politician Motto, It Seems....

There is no room left for people that think gays shouldn't marry and the scientists are lying to us about evolution and other topics.
The only thing leftists will ever understand about the rights of others is the business end of a loaded gun pointed at their murderous, fascist heads.

The U.S is less and less religious every generation and as time goes on religious traditionalism becomes more and more of a loser at the polls. The party either needs a tune up or it needs to disband and reform as a party more focused on true economic conservatism. I might actually vote for Republicans from time to time if they ditched the bigoted, science denying religious nuts that constantly make the party look toxic and ignorant.
So, as the citizens become more atheist, agnostic, or indifferent; there will be a rise in pandemics, loss of jobs, weather conditions will worsen, more wildfires, more meteoric strikes, food prices will skyrocket, the health of the people will suffer, healthcare will become selective, the citizens will become more government dependent and less self-sufficient, crime will rise, and the number of births will drop (as people will not wish to bring children into such a chaotic world and/or deal with distractions). And clearly, most people will nor even care about science as they indulge themselves in electronic gaming, booze, and every form of hedonism.

Not respecting your views doesn't mean I think you shouldn't be allowed to have them.

May we openingly express and act on them within a public education system that entails universal academic choice, my Liege?

It is you liberals that are tying to make your views, the only alternatives.

ANY other views, are labeled as ist or phobic and dog piled.

There is no room left for people that think gays shouldn't marry and the scientists are lying to us about evolution and other topics.

You just demonstrated my point.

You are the people that are trying to make your views that only allowable views.

Playtime posted a complaint about religious people, and you just demonstrated the action that she was complaining about.

Does that matter to you? Or are you actively aware that your stated concerns are not your real issues?

Your "views" aren't the issue. It's the legislative action and court stacking (decisions) that come from your "views" that are the issue. You can't just live and let live. Understand that every society, every economy, every country evolves. It's OK to express a view against gay marriage. But when those views as a group translate into action against gay marriage in the form of pressuring courts and legislatures to restrict or make it illegal based on your religious views, that's an issue.

Okay, so take the word 'religious' out from in front of the word 'views', does that make it okay to then pressure courts and legislatures to restrict what you find as 'immoral'? Why does it matter from where the 'views' are derived? If you're not 'religious', your views came from somewhere, so why are your views more legitimate and able to be subjected on others via government fiat than those that are derived from religion? What's the difference between an atheist seeing murder as morally wrong and a Christian seeing murder as morally wrong? You're saying that the atheist's views are okay to legislate because they're not based on 'religion', but the Christian's views are not because they are?

my 'complaint' is that NO religion belongs in politics

per

the

constitution.
Nowhere in the constitution does it ban religion from politics. That is absurd.

i didn't say anything about 'banning' .... i am talking about the separation of church & state.

when one votes & sets policy based on their religion rather than the constitution - that is in direct violation of the constitution.
When you say you want "no religion" in politics, you are calling for a ban.

It is NOT a violation to vote or set policy based on your religious views.

It's 'moral views', not 'religious views'. 'View's or 'opinions' are based on many different factors that influence our lives, not just religion. We've let them label views as 'religious' and therefore mark them as not valid, one person's moral views are just as valid as another's, regardless of what those moral views are founded on.

There is no such notion as yours in Jefferson’s Letter to the Danbury Baptist Association, let alone in the Constitution, you blithering fool. Your blather is meaningless baby talk.

If that was true, you would not be here, starting threads discussing the need to get religious people OUT of politics.

I just think Republicans should stop pandering to them. They can go start their own party if they want to. I'm not trying to take their voice away. They're becoming irrelevant. Their views are losers at the polls.

If they're losers at the polls, then why are you worried about them? Because you care about the future of the republican party?

All I need to do is sit back and watch your views become irrelevant. Nobody is silencing you. People just don't believe in it as much anymore. That trend won't stop. Belief in fairy tales will not be common in the distant future of humanity.

Oh, there's no doubt about it. Lovers of liberty, common sense and decency are losing the cultural war to mindless, dumbed-down degenerates of fairy tales and statist bootlickery like you.

For now. Eventually social conservatism will become too damaging and will be abandoned.

And so goes the demise of the greatest exhibition of liberty in history this side of heaven. I suggest you start practicing your Sieg Heil. You're going to need it, you statist-bootlicking coward.

By the way the rise in absolute number is mostly attributed to population growth. Religion as a percentage of the population is in decline in the United States. If it's not in those countries too then it will be before long. Did you know there are more slaves in the world today than there was during any other point in history? They're a small percentage of the population but because we have so many people the literal number can give the wrong impression. Do you understand?

You're a fool. Man is a religious creature. You're no less religious than the next. You're a mindless fanatic of humanist naturalism, the contemporary version of an ancient apostasy. You're a slogan-spouting rube of the state schools and popular culture. LOL! Indeed, you're everything you were programed to be, i.e., just another obedient little bootlick of a conformist You're a denizen of the Brave New World already. And the only thing that pagans like you have ever understood about the rights of others is the business end of a sword or a loaded gun pointed at your stupid heads.

Just gonna put this right...here. Enjoy. :)
