The realities of the Trump administration

The GOP may be unable to survive Trump. Many will go down with him because they are siding with Trump's worst tendencies, lying to support Trump, or simply ignoring what Trump is doing.

Allow me to illustrate.

Public health experts reacted with alarm after Trump held indoor rallies with thousands of maskless supporters at packed arenas in Nevada and Arizona amid the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

But some Republicans rejected the health experts, a common trait within the GOP led by Trump.

"No, it doesn't," said Sen. Josh Hawley, a Missouri Republican, when asked if the rallies troubled him at all.

Trump urged his North Carolina supporters to commit a felony by going to the polls even after voting absentee to see if the system works.

"I'm fine with the fact that they check up on whether their vote counted," said Sen. Richard Burr, North Carolina's senior Republican senator.

After Trump's own admission to Bob Woodward that he lied to the American people about the threat posed by the coronavirus, GOP senators had no qualms.

"No," Georgia Sen. Kelly Loeffler said when asked if it's a concern that Trump lied about the virus. "It's fake news."

"You guys are awful," added Arizona Sen. Martha McSally when asked if Trump made a mistake when he misled the public.

Most declined to respond, making clear they did not want to address the controversy at all.

"Not right now," said Sen. Joni Ernst, a vulnerable Iowa Republican who refused to comment three times over the past week when asked about Trump's comments to Woodward.

GOP growing more indifferent to Trump controversies as election nears aided me in this report.

I suspect that the majority of Republicans can't wait until they rid themselves of Trump. That will happen in a little over 50 days. A number of Republicans will join Trump on the sidelines.

Polls show Trump commands the support of an overwhelming number of Republican voters. This begs a question.

Where the freak are they? Trump's followers certainly are a quiet bunch and they pretty much avoid Trump and what he is doing. Why?

“I’m here to help you. We will bring back law and order to your community. We will bring it back, and we will bring it back immediately,” Trump told the people of Minnesota.

Should Biden be elected, Trump apparently was very concerned about the possibility of uncontrolled violence in the streets of Minneapolis following a racial event like the killing of at black man at the hands of law enforcement.

Trump warned us that if Biden is elected there could be months of unfettered violence in a peaceful American city like Portland, Oregon.

If Biden is elected, Trump told us that shootings would become common place in cities like Chicago.

If Biden is elected, Trump warned there would constant BLM protests and racial strife from Los Angeles to Baltimore and every city in between.

If Biden is elected, Trump warned us that a peaceful little town in Wisconsin would be torn apart when a local cop shot an unarmed black man in front of his kids. Trump suggested that things would get so bad the NBA would have to cancel tournament games. Many thought Trump was going too far this time.

“Everything we’ve achieved is now in danger. This election will decide whether we will defend the American way of life or allow a radical movement to completely dismantle and destroy it. Joe Biden is not the savior of America’s soul. He is the destroyer of America’s jobs, and if given the chance, he will be the destroyer of America’s greatness,” President Trump.

This is classic Trump. He knows the country is being torn apart by racial strife, violence, destruction, and murder on his watch. So, he blames his Presidential rival for what may happen if his rival is elected.

In classic Trump he does this by using lies, gross exaggerations, and overwhelming hyperbole that only his loyal faithful will believe because they don't know the truth, and they don't want to know the truth.
Such is the group pathology known as Trumpism. Blind devotion to a transparent con man.
Actually for me having over 50 years of experiencing the MSM my rule of thumb is if the MSM writes as in the case of Trump over 96% negative news while at the same time donating 96% of their money to the democrats....hmmm... that makes me more supportive of Trump.
Simply because I've been around the MSM and see how they bias their news.
Another reason is a simple fact: The MSM and anti-trumpers think Trump, me and 50 million like me are "ANTI-Immigrant".
Proof? I just did a Google search results for "Trump anti-immigrant" =183,000 articles. But "Trump anti-ILLEGAL Immigrants": 3,680 results.
Now what does this mean to the 50+ million like me that have relatives that became "LEGAL" immigrants, or Trump who married a LEGAL immigrant or Trump's grandmother who was a LEGAL immigrant? INSULTING!
To think we like Trump are ANTI-IMMIGRANT? And then the dummy MSM piles on by encouraging "ILLEGAL" immigration.
Encouraging people to break the law. To NOT do what my relatives and 50+ million other people had to do... study, take tests, pay money and wait several years before becoming a LEGAL American!
Is it NO wonder then that people like me and 50+ million don't believe the MSM! But believe President Trump.
Trump will win by a gigantic landslide because people like above and millions more truly don't answer pollsters as we are too busy working.
The polls are biased as part of the MSM. But look for election day. Won't be a need for election recounts folks. A LANDSLIDE the likes of
1984 with Trump carrying 49 of the 50 states

Why does Trump want to kill Americans? Did Putin get more than he bargain for when he chose to support the Trump Presidency?

There is no doubt about it. Trump is losing it. He isn't a well man to begin with.

Yesterday, Trump, who considered the injection of bleach to kill off the virus, said that the CDC director, Dr. Robert Redfield, was wrong and confused about the scientific approach to combating the virus.

Today, using the National Archives as his stage, Trump threatened our school system because it teaches that slavery existed in America. Next, he will urge the schools to avoid any mention of the Civil War because the Southern states (Trump country) fought to protect slavery.

His lawyer, the Attorney General of the United States, Bill Barr, joined Trump in going off the deep end.

According to the Times, Barr asked prosecutors to explore whether they could bring criminal charges against Mayor Jenny Durkan of Seattle, a Democrat, for allowing some residents to establish a police-free protest zone near the city’s downtown.

The Times added, " He told a Chicago Tribune columnist that the nation could find itself “irrevocably committed to the socialist path” if Mr. Trump lost and that the country faced “a clear fork in the road.'"

Like Trump, Barr, too, strongly opposed the lockdowns recommended by health experts world-wide and that saved millions of lives.

CNN reports, "You know, putting a national lockdown, stay at home orders, is like house arrest. Other than slavery, which was a different kind of restraint, this is the greatest intrusion on civil liberties in American history," Barr said as a round of applause came from the crowd of college students.

Well you believe the MSM that Trump is "anti-immigrant" for one. And that really is so simple to prove how the MSM has blown that
farce out of proportion. Again... Google search shows "Trump anti-immigrant" appears 49 times the number of "Trump anti-ILLEGAL immigrant"! That's just ONE of the gross exaggerations and out right lies about Trump... and 50+million people like me! Do you understand
you declare Trump anti-immigrant" that means ALL of us 50+ million that have either relatives that were "LEGAL" immigrants or ARE Legal immigrants as anti-immigrant! And that is so wrong! And this myth is perpetuated by the MSM... all to the detriment of Biden frankly!
Because if the MSM that hates Trump so much because (they had donated 96% to Hillary, hence they've been trying to get back since 2016) continues to fabricate stories, then most of us don't believe them anymore!
Besides, people like you that can't look beyond Trump's foilbles and were so ready to ignore Obama's exaggerations...I mean really, Obama told us upon his nomination that.."this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal ..."
you aren't capable of not only forgiveness of Trump's foibles but like little kids...pouting, and stomping your feet because you aren't getting your way!!!

Over 201,000 Americans have lost their lives to the coronavirus, and there are over 6.8 million cases in the U.S. Due to Trump's admitted lying to Americans and his subsequent slow reaction to the threat, that is quarter of the world's cases and 20% of the world's deaths. Compared to other industrialized nations, Trump's efforts were pathetic. United States Coronavirus: 6,825,967 Cases and 201,278 Deaths - Worldometer
Why does Trump want to kill Americans? Did Putin get more than he bargain for when he chose to support the Trump Presidency?
College students who are duplicating what our President is doing, gathering in large maskless crowds.

It would appear that we are beginning to feel the effects of the Labor Day weekend.

Again we are averaging a thousand American lives lost. The number of coronavirus cases is increasing in 23 states, and the positive rating is increasing.

Politico reports, "FBI Director Christopher Wray on Thursday described “very active efforts” by Russia to interfere in the 2020 election, primarily by working to damage former Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

"Wray’s assessment affirms the findings of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, which last month described Russia’s efforts to damage Biden and specifically identified Andriy Derkach, a pro-Russian Ukrainian lawmaker who has met with President Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani, as an agent of Russia’s influence operations.

"Wray’s testimony to the House Homeland Security Committee affirmed that Russia is continuing to take an active role in the 2020 campaign with less than 50 days until Election Day."

President Trump was asked if he believed his own intelligence agencies or the Russian president when it came to the allegations of meddling in the elections.

"President Putin says it's not Russia. I don't see any reason why it would be," he replied.

Another Republican group has been formed in opposition to Trump and endorsing Joe Biden. More than two dozen Republican officials are a part of a new group calling for “leadership change in the White House.”

Josh Venable, who served as chief of staff for Betsy DeVos, the secretary of education, has joined the group, known as REPAIR (Republican Political Alliance for Integrity and Reform). John Mitnick, a former top lawyer at Trump’s Department of Homeland Security, is an adviser to the group.

REPAIR has the goal of restoring integrity to the Republican Party.

The Times reports, "REPAIR joins other groups of Republicans who oppose Mr. Trump’s bid for a second term, including Republican Voters Against Trump and The Lincoln Project, a political action committee formed by current and former Republicans."

The effort is being spearheaded by Miles Taylor, who served as the chief of staff to Kirstjen Nielsen, the former secretary of homeland security. Taylor has endorsed Biden. He wrote in The Washington Post that Trump was “dangerous” and had governed the country by whim, excessive narcissism, profound ignorance, and self-interest.

Business Insider reports, "Pew Research Center polled more than a dozen US allies' public attitudes and the results show a further decline in Trump's favorability since he became president.

"A handful of them, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, Canada and Australia, gave their lowest favorable views of the US on record since Pew started polling nearly two decades ago.

"In Canada, one in five people expressed confidence in Trump, a drastic drop from 51 percent who held that view a year ago. (Canada, for crying out loud)

"Similarly, Germans gave the US some of "its worst ratings," the authors note, with only 10% who said they have confidence in Trump, compared with 13% in 2019 and 86% in 2016 while Barack Obama was president."

What will Trump's followers say to all this. "Good riddance, we don't need any allies."

Business Insider continued, "Most people across the 13 countries surveyed said they have less trust in Trump to "do the right thing" than they do in Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

"Only an average of 16% said they have confidence in Trump as a leader, versus 19% who said the same for Xi and 23% for Putin."

Our [former] allies know Putin and Xi are evil, but they know what they are getting. On the other hand, Trump is erratic, self-centered, profoundly ignorant, and extremely unpredictable. Our [former] allies know Trump cannot be trusted. There are countless examples of the lack of trust.

Knowing that all news media is biased, deciding you would support Trump because MSM is biased to the Left seems a bit shallow.

Media is biased because the American people are biased. The country is so divided that we don't share hardly any common realities. Thus each media entity serves it's audience giving them what they want. And what they want is reinforcement of their believes. Talk Radio, Fox News, and a slew of right wing websites portray liberals as unpatriotic, Communists, Anarchists, and un-American. The major TV networks and many left wing websites portray conservatives as bigoted authoritarians, reactionaries who seek to improve the lives of the rich and upper middle class at cost the poor and minorities. The day that MSM and Fox News start appealing to the opposition is the day they lose their audience.

Scientific polling services such a Gallup, Rasmuseen, and Reuters can't afford to be biased because their business depends on their accuracy. Open Access Polls used on social media, talk radio, and various web sites are notorious for their bias, rigging, and inaccurate results.

No the MSM is biased because they were educated in a liberal biased environment. Believe me I KNOW!
In the 60s I was on the fringe of the SDS (AKA as Weathermen) and as were several of my journalism classmates.
We in in our journalism classes, were taught at that time traditional journalism...before Vietnam, Watergate, deepthroat where "anonymous sources" were considered unreliable. Where the "5 Ws" were so important to provide the public Some of my classmates went on to editors/producers,reporters and their perceptions that the USA was the bad guy was what they promoted. Consequently the MSM is constituted of more liberal, biased LEFT people today more than ever.

Now before I go further... I want you to compare my comments to yours... I provide links... you?? So who do you think is better informed?

FACT: survey done article written 11/2018
462 Financial Journalists Were Asked Their Political Leanings. Guess How Many Said They Were Conservative.
Researchers from Arizona State University and Texas A&M University questioned 462 financial journalists around the country. They followed up with 18 additional interviews. The journalists worked for the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Washington Post, Associated Press and a number of other newspapers. One other thing the researchers found was that the surveyed journalists overwhelmingly described themselves as liberal. Of those surveyed, 17.63% said they were “very liberal,” and 40.84% said they were “somewhat liberal,” for a total of 58.47% saying they lean left.
On the other side of the spectrum, just 0.46% said they were “very conservative” and 3.94% described themselves as “somewhat conservative,” for a total of 4.4% of respondents leaning right. The other 37.12% said they were moderate.
In summary... 58.47% leaned left while 4.4% conservative.
FACT: Now here is a FACT that proves MSM left wing bias:
Think about it... these "journalists" donated 96% to Hillary and Trump won! Do you honestly believe then the MSM was going to be "fair and balanced"???
HELL no. They lost money backing Hillary and they had to get something out of it!
FACT: How Negative has the MSM been to Trump compared to other presidents?

Why does Trump want to kill Americans? Did Putin get more than he bargain for when he chose to support the Trump Presidency?

A controversial guideline saying people without Covid-19 symptoms didn’t need to get tested for the virus came from the Trump White House.

The Times reports, " A heavily criticized recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last month about who should be tested for the coronavirus was not written by C.D.C. scientists and was posted to the agency’s website despite their serious objections.

"The guidance said it was not necessary to test people without symptoms of Covid-19 even if they had been exposed to the virus. It came at a time when public health experts were pushing for more testing rather than less, and administration officials told The Times that the document was a C.D.C. product and had been revised with input from the agency’s director, Dr. Robert Redfield."

The Trump White House lied.

The Times continued, "But officials told The Times this week that the Department of Health and Human Services did the rewriting and then “dropped” it into the C.D.C.’s public website, flouting the agency’s strict scientific review process."

Fortunately, the error has been corrected. The CDC has reversed the controversial coronavirus testing guidance. It now reads as it should, “Please consult with your healthcare provider or public health official. Testing is recommended for all close contacts of persons with SARS-CoV-2 infection.”

In an interview with Fox & Friends, Trump said he believes the U.S. will have a vaccine in “a matter of weeks,” before laying out a more specific timeline, predicting a vaccine could come in as little as “four to eight” weeks.

"Hundreds of millions of doses will be available every month, and we expect to have enough vaccines for every American by April," Trump told reporters at the White House today.

No vaccine has been approved.

According to Pew Research, 51% of Americans will take the coronavirus vaccine when approved. That is down from 21% from May.

Gee, I wonder why that is.

Why does Trump want to kill Americans? Did Putin get more than he bargain for when he chose to support the Trump Presidency?

The coronavirus is on the increase in 30 states. Over 203,000 Americans have died from the virus, and we are averaging 800 to 1,000 Americans dying each day. United States Coronavirus: 6,925,534 Cases and 203,139 Deaths - Worldometer

Trump has sidelined Dr. Fauci, part of the White House coronavirus task force.

Trump has sidelined Dr. Hahn, director of the Food and Drug Administration.

Trump has sidelined Dr. Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

We should be hearing from one or more of these epidemiology experts every day. We don't hear from them at all, and Dr. Birx, also on White House coronavirus task force, has been silenced as well. The other day it took a Senate hearing for Americans to get some input from Dr. Redfield. Unfortunately, our President told us the good doctor didn't know what he was talking about.

Instead, we hear from Dr. Scott Atlas, a neuroradiologist, not an epidemiologist. His specialty is herd immunity, a strategy that could lead to hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of lost American lives.

And, of course we hear from Dr. Trump on a daily basis, who is attempting to lie his way to reelection. His specialty is recommending the injection of bleach to kill the dreaded virus, or telling Americans we will have a vaccine before November's election.

Yesterday, Trump said Dr. Redfield, while testifying during a Senate hearing, didn't understand the question and was confused.

Question: Do we want a President who thinks he knows more than the experts, or do we want a President who will listen to and work with the experts? Biden is proven commodity as a part of the Obama administration during the Ebola outbreak (2014-2016) and the Swine Flu (2009-2010).

You decide. It's your life. It's your family.

Trump wanted a large bounce coming out of the Republican National Convention, and early evidence is that he did not receive one. The new ABC News/Ipsos poll is especially harsh for Trump. Although it did not poll the horse race, it did poll the candidates' favorability ratings.
....

Why do you think that ABC did not poll the race? Because they were looking for an excuse to claim Trump did not get a bounce.

Try to not be such an obvious and willing dupe of fake news.

A furious battle over a Supreme Court vacancy is arguably the last thing the United States needed right now.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died today.

The Atlantic writes, "But her passing less than two months before the presidential election also tosses one more lit match into the tinderbox of national politics in 2020: It will surely inflame a deeply polarized country already riven by a deadly pandemic, a steep economic downturn, and civil unrest in its major cities.

"In Washington, the vacancy fight could ratchet up tensions to a level unseen even in the tumultuous Trump era. President Donald Trump will be eager to fill Ginsburg’s seat immediately, seizing an opportunity to rally his base before the election and to cement his legacy in the event that he is defeated in November. He could also become the first president since Richard Nixon to install three justices on the high court in a single four-year term. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has already indicated that he’s ready for another confirmation battle, either before or immediately after the election. Republicans might be hard-pressed to consider and approve a Trump nominee in the eight weeks before November, but even a victory by Vice President Joe Biden and a Democratic takeover of the Senate might not prevent Trump from successfully appointing another justice. Republicans would still control both the White House and the Senate until a new Congress takes office in early January."

Assuming that a replacement for Ginsburg has not been confirmed by November 3, and further assuming that Trump loses the election, should a defeated President be allowed to appoint a judge to the Supreme Court?

It should be pointed out, both assumptions are extremely likely. Trump is the least popular President in modern American history.

There is a corollary to the question. Should the defeated party in the Senate be allowed to confirm a Supreme Court judge?

Based on limited researched, I have been unable to find those questions addressed. However, allow me to answer my own questions.

There is absolutely nothing in the past four years to suggest that Trump and Trump Republicans in the Senate will put the will of the American people first.

If Trump is defeated, if the GOP loses control of the Senate -- both likely, why else are Republicans in such a hurry -- and Trump Republicans confirm Ginsburg's replacement, the GOP is likely to lose power for at least a generation.

There's nothing blind about our support of Trump. We've seen the alternative, and we want no part of that.

Great, instead of talking about it, defend Trump.

You have not seen the alternative. You have only seen what Trump has told you, and he passed the threshold of 20,000 lies a long time ago.

See link, or, perhaps, you don't want to know the truth.

Yes, 20,000 documented lies the Democrats told about Trump. Your point?

Here's an interesting factoid for you. Presidents are elected in this country for four years. Not three years and nine months. Cool, huh?

Nobody with a lick of sense gives a flying fuck bout your covidiocy anymore.

We're six months into "two weeks to flatten the curve", and the only thing that the despotic thugs that you carry water for have flattened is the ground under the goalposts they've moved so many times.
