The real reason for the Dr. Seuss freakout

just an update.. Seuss lives on!

"Dr. Seuss Enterprises was founded in 1993 by Audrey Geisel, the widow of Theodore "Dr. Seuss" Geisel, to help promote her late husband's work after his 1991 passing. Geisel passed away herself in 2018, so the company no longer has a direct connection to Geisel's estate."

It's normal for collectors to kick into high gear when something collectible like books is d/c'd. You should see what a tea cup in my d/c'd china pattern costs these days. It's how it works on the collector's market.

Horton Hatches the Egg is beloved as the good humble person who took over Mazie the Lazy bird's nest and hatched a beautiful life after a long wait filled with his cheerful sacrifices to do his part to make good of the wretched mama bird who was not too dedicated to her chick. It's a happy story by Dr. Seuss and greatly loved by generations of Americans (and universally as well.)

It doesn't surprise me that a scumbag like Clayton defends book burning.
It's impossible to have an intelligent conversation with you folks when you say bullshit like "book burning" when it is nowhere close to true.

Many of those we all remember fondly!

‘As social mores and cultural preferences change, companies adjust. They change what they sell, adding or updating products and letting others go. This isn't news -- or at least it wasn't, until American right-wing media outlets became obsessed with so-called "cancel culture."
[…]
No one is canceling Dr. Seuss. On the contrary: he's being well-served.

Still, this decision by the company, Dr. Seuss Enterprises, presumably made rationally and in response to the demands of the free market, has prompted a full-on right-wing freakout. The story got top billing on Fox News and has been burning up right-wing Twitter. It's being jammed into the same lazy narrative that has overtaken the right, where any criticism or change, including from companies refreshing their brands or seeking a more diverse audience, is "cancellation."
[…]
But the American right has become the all-out party of gender and racial grievance, and they are hyper focused on two things: maintaining power, and not actually being held accountable for governing.

That's why they obsess over culture war stories like Dr. Seuss: There's no legislative solution (unless they want to nationalize the children's book industry), so there's no way for the Republican Party to have failed to deliver on a promise; there's only finger-pointing at perceived enemies (liberals, wokes, Democrats), which rallies the troops. What are they being rallied for? They're not quite sure -- but they know who they're against.’

A lazy narrative, indeed; a false, dishonest narrative.

Good people don’t like bad people calling the shots.

Freak out?

You're the assholes who freaked out about a few benign images in Dr. Seuss books and had them taken out of publishing.

Calling out your freak out isn't a freak out....Once again, you twirps are masters of transference and projection.

These real people are more ridiculously stereotypical than the cartoon people in Dr Seuss's books:

Dr Seuss cancellation is just the latest in a never ending litany of American culture and free expression being sanitized and homogenized to appease the woke. If this trend doesn't annoy you by now then you were a soulless automaton to begin with.

Dr Seuss was not cancelled. Just 6 books.

A lazy false, dishonest narrative.... you mean like your post and thread title?

CNN as a source for the real story? C'mon man.

They have more credibility than Fox News which has been pushing this meme.
No one has any credibility in the media.
Mark Levin does.
The late Rush Limbaugh did, and he earned the medal of freedom for the truth he championed.
Because of his faith in God, Sean Hannity keeps truth in his profession on the alter of his beliefs that God is good, and practicing telling the truth makes him revered by people who respect people who say and do what is right.
The scholarship into the examination of good and bad makes Glenn Beck able to show what is and is not acceptable in light of the Constitution, may God keep him well.
And Dan Bongino, who was once Secret service protector of White House personnel, makes people see through shameful events so clearly as only a good cop could. And I have a Thanksgiving that Dan has apparently thrown his illness under the bus.

I know there are many more who do not get fooled into using untruth in their ammo boxes, but report the truth our nation needs to keep this nation in freedom, and brotherly love.. :huddle:
