The rats are beginning to jump ship as rumpā€™s defeat becomes impossible to deny

It has taken them long enough, but a steady stream of Republican senators is starting to hold up the white flag on the departure of Donald Trump, albeit on grainy videos without actually daring to wave the flag.
Both Politico and The Hill have begun reporting that the tide is turning for Republicans. Their headlines in the past day were definitive:
Politico: ā€œRepublicans relent: ā€˜It looks like it will be President Bidenā€™ā€
The Hill: ā€œRepublican start turning the page on Trump Eraā€
Between them, the two websites name-checked seven Republican senators who newly have become emboldened enough to flirt with actual reality without the use of one of those voice disguises that Mafia informants favor in TV interviews.

They are Senators John Cornyn of Texas, James Risch of Idaho, Marco Rubio of Florida, Roger Wicker of Mississippi, Roy Blunt of Missouri, Mike Rounds of South Dakota and Kevin Cramer of North Dakota.
The seven havenā€™t mustered the courage to go full Socialist-BLM-loving-Radical by actually congratulating Biden. So far, that list is confined to Senators Mitt Romney of Utah; Lisa Murkowski of Alaska; Ben Sasse of Nebraska; and Susan Collins of Maine.
But at least seven more GOP senators have become emboldened to flirt out loud with reality without the use of one of those voice disguisers that Mafia informants favor in TV interviews.
Hereā€™s a summary of reporting from the Hill today:
Cornyn: ā€œI havenā€™t seen anything that would change the outcomeā€¦come January the 20th weā€™re going to inaugurate a president and I think itā€™ll probably be Joe Biden.ā€
Risch: ā€œThis is my second transition where we move from one political party to another in the White House,ā€ he said Friday, describing the incoming administration as having ā€œan entirely different feeling or dynamic. It is a change in the music that is playing in the background. We go from heavy metal to classical music in one fell swoop.ā€ That was sourced to The Spokesman-Review in Spokane, WA.
Rubio: ā€œThat will be the president-electā€™s decision, obviously,ā€ in reference to one looming Biden decision. Asked to clarify his description of Biden, he said ā€œā€œultimately thatā€™s what the results, the preliminary results, seem to indicate. Weā€™ll certainly have to anticipate thatā€™s the highest likelihood at this point,ā€ he added, noting that President Trumpā€™s legal team is still pursuing its long-shot lawsuits.ā€
Wicker: ā€œit would make sense to give Biden access to intelligence briefings. Itā€™s reasonable for the vice president to be given security briefings. I donā€™t see any harm at all and actually a lot of help.:
Blunt: ā€œI think this all works itself out.ā€ Asked about Trumpā€™s previous, unsubstantiated claims that he won the election, Blunt said, ā€œI think thereā€™s a process for that,ā€ referring to Trumpā€™s legal challenges in various battleground states.
These werenā€™t profiles in courage, but certainly reflected a departure from previous comments from the likes of Blunt, who is up for reelection in pro-Trump Missouri, where the Orange victory margin was 16 percentage points. Previously, Blunt had tried out ā€œTrump might not have been defeatedā€ which was akin to saying, ā€œTrump might not have a Twitter account.ā€
Politico, which also quoted Rubio, Cornyn and Risch, added Cramer and Rounds to the mix.
Rounds: ā€œWe have to assume right now, based upon the current electoral count, that we are getting closer to the point where the facts on the ground will bear that out. Right now, it looks like it will be President Biden. We understand that.ā€
Cramer: ā€œIt grows increasingly unlikely that a remedy would involve overturning the election. Vice President Biden ought to be getting briefings and the transition ought to be in the works so that thereā€™s an infrastructure for that. And if he ends up winning, as it seems likely he will, that he wonā€™t have to get caught up on one day in January.ā€
Perhaps the best comic relief was inadvertently provided by Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas, who didnā€™t quite make the list of seven new senators acknowledging reality. This is as close as he got, at Politico:
ā€œIā€™m working on what I want to say about this topic. I think I want to wait ā€¦ until I get my thoughts cleared on a piece of paper and in my brain.ā€
Notably, Senator Majority Leader Moscow Mitch McConnell has remained in his shell, full-out ignoring reporters accosting him with loaded, unfair questions like, ā€œWho won the election?ā€

I don't think they are deserting the ship at all --- they showed loyalty to Trump in a dramatic way early on, and the ones that showed most loyalty? They are running for president. (Cruz and Graham) The Dems don't do loyalty, but the GOP does.

Establishment GOP look out for themselves. Weā€™re supposed to be surprised?

At last, the swamp creatures can return!

I wonder if any of these guys are re-thinking their decision to go into politics.

Imagine having to tiptoe around this buffoon.

I wonder if you will re-think your decision to vote for Biden? My guess is you will just blame all the bad stuff on Trump, even after Harris takes over in the short term.

A$$kissing is NOT loyalty, it's done by those who are terrified.

During Dubya's disastrous regime, it was Rush Limbaugh with the entire Republican Party smooching his fat a$$.

The GOP never has legislated, they've capitulated. Every Republican elected must swear an oath to exclusively serve the financial interests of the ruling billionaire class and Big Business. And they do it very well.

Of course, they fvck their constituents (and every other average American) over relentlessly to honor that oath. But the RWNJs don't care, because they take comfort knowing their votes increase the prosperity of the ruling billionaire class.

but yet you still voted for a lousy candidate....folks like you are part of the problem mac...

I'm glad you brought this up because I wanted somewhere to say --- I think that's what happened to Fox. You know, bread, which side buttered on.......not much fun being the TV channel for the Outs. They are thinking of growing their market, maybe. Fox coverage that night stunk --- I kept switching to CNN, which whatever else you can say about it :mad-61: --- it does have good election coverage. It's their only good thing. Do you know Fox called Virginia for Biden at 7 PM the minute they opened coverage, with less than 1% reporting??? That's the worst I've ever seen -- AND Trump was ahead in Virginia till 11:00 at night: I know because I was so mad I kept track. You can't call that good election coverage.

Fox is likely to be gentle to the winner, I bet. But I think the people who show loyalty are going to be prized more.

Hey, works for me. :fingerscrossed:
