The problem with Americans is America

Individually every American has the potential to debate political discourse, discuss issues logically and fairly, and solve the issues that face the nation as a whole.* Collectively, however, in the name of progress over the past several decades we have shackled ourselves from our ability to progress socially.* Our system of linear politics has drawn the battle lines for fights that can never end and no one can win.* Large portions of the media show willful bias while the other portions of the media constrain themselves from true freedom of the press.* We need to update our political theories to better suit our modern times.

Left means Democrat.* Right means Republican.* Boundary lines are important for constituents to align themselves politically.* These ideas are constraints that limit the public debate.* The same arguments are constantly repeated time and time again and again.* The issues that divide the nation haven’t changed in decades.* Our decisions at the voting booth decide which of the lesser of two evils will win the election this time.* The first Republican president was Abraham Lincoln, and we’re still arguing about race here in America.* New ideas and more perfect solutions can be brought to light.

Every media organization is accused of being biased towards the left or the right.* Any truth that may be found for such an accusation could be found by turning on your television or picking up your favorite newspaper.* ‘Experts’ interpret the world for us on live TV instead of laying out facts that are documented and verifiable.* This is the reason we all have to make weekly visits to factcheck.com.* Advertising has risen as the major player for programming in America.* Without ratings there can be no advertising, and without advertising there can ultimately be no show.* The final consequence of these factors are stories focused on being sensational instead of informative.

The responsibility of the media should be to educate the public on current events and enable a platform for meaningful debate.* Yet the media, for some reason, must negotiate with political parties to hold a presidential debate (arguably one of the most important debates we as Americans view).* News organizations need to draw a hard line against being censored by politicians who, instead of answering to their political beliefs, answer pre-determined questions in order to publicize a party platform to the undecided voters.* The constitution declares freedom of the press, and the media organizations have the ability and responsibility to better exercise their constitutional rights in a better fashion than they have been doing presently and in years past.

In these modernistic times filled with Ipads, smartphones, and the world wide web our political process should update alongside these technologies.* Every four years candidates shout for freedom and demand transparency from the government.* Our ability finally exists to place every congressional meeting and every department of the government at the fingertips of children.* The potential to immerse the public in debates in the capitol and inform the public of the daily goings on is squandered by the leaders who call for it in front of the cameras.*** We need a three dimensional approach to our social issues that address the needs of the many while not restraining the rights of the few.* The power is in our hands but wasted on red carpets and greasy hair styles.

We have created a broken system of representation by a republic.* We’ve placed internal barriers that keep us from speaking freely, adapting quickly, and accepting opinions that are not our own.* Words like bi-partisan give false hope for distant progress.* Informed Americans drew lines in the sand over the issues that divided them during their own time.* Their children never rubbed those lines out and drew their own.* It’s time Americans broke the boundaries of linear politics created by generations gone and ended our war on ourselves.

Sir: Thank you for the well thought out original post. It tells me that you are young and are disgusted at how fucked up things are...without realizing how really fucked up things really are.

Here is a statement you made which you will one day wonder at. It is as innocent as a new laid egg:

"The responsibility of the media should be to educate the public on current events and enable a platform for meaningful debate."

That is an ideal that has never realized. You can find Plutarch complaining about media "spin" 2000 years ago.

And the disputes that are dividing this country have not been around for just a few decades...they have been around for centuries. Look back to Adams and the Federalists of New England and Jefferson and his small central government theories that have prevailed in the Heartland.

The Puritans who settled New England came over for religious freedom; and were soon hanging women in Boston Commons for being Quakers instead of Puritans. They declared themselves "The Elect of God" and have been telling the rest of the ciountry what to do ever since. Being the "Elect", they naturally enjoy moral and intellectual superiority over the rest of the citizens, and thus are justified in whatever fraud and knavery is required in order to accomplish for the people that which they are too stupid to recognize that they need. (See Obama lies for recent history and the lap dog media's complicity in those lies...for years.)

That part of the citizenry that has fought the Elect, known as Jeffersonians, from the Heartland of America, can trace their fierce resistance all the way back to the Lowland Scots of the Braveheart and of Robert the Bruce. Next year, we celebrate the 700 anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn in which the Scots, a singularly turbulent and ungovernable race, defeated the central power in London and sustained their independence.

The fight continues today.

There is nothing new under the sun.

What's most wrong is the total bs propaganda of the right, the greedy mega rich swine that put it out, and the brainwashed ignorant ugly American racists/haters that believe it....- on the bright side, they're about done.

The left has its fair share of hater dupes Franco.

They don't see it. They won't see it.

This country is currently controlled, indirectly but clearly, by people like Franco on one end and his polar opposite on the other. While combined they represent a small minority of the populace, their anger provides most of the energy within their parties. So they're pulling the two sides apart from each other, leaving a larger and larger hole in the middle.

The narcissistic partisan ideologues are causing great damage right now, and worse, their momentum is not slowing.
