Putin at this point is not a Communist. Other names perhaps. Our system is a combination as you typed. But we must find the best balance and accept the limitations when we do. We sold our foundation of manufacturing for a few decades gain of cheaper products to massively increase social justice budgets at home. Win/win for a short time. Now China is a major player in the world with an endless population who are begging to be working slaves. Most of the population have not even had that chance still. No real social programs and pensions and benefits like us. But those who have tasted some comforts from what they have experienced before, it is like heaven.

China has a large middle class that is tired of sacrificing for the State. They want to enjoy the wealth and goodies that they have helped to create from China's export market.

They are preparing us for the socialism that they hope to impose on us.

The idea is anytime we protest new government programs as socialism their reply will be we already have socialism in our country so what's the difference? Anything after that point is acceptable.

Tump's horrific trade wars with economic friends and foes alike(which he lost), and being a bully and a loudmouth in the process, only served to strengthen China in the world economy, as our allies moved toward China for trade.

Yeah it's coming but not because we aren't going green fast enough but rather because we are forcing it too quickly.

The government can impose regulations on business but that doesn't translate to socialism.

True, but the government does not regulate prices and doesn't do what business does. Business satisfies the marketplace. The government satisfies its citizens with its programs.

Why are you trying to blame Trump for something that's been happening in this country for nearly 30 years? The only people who sold us out to China (and still are) is the American consumer. The American consumer lost solidarity with our own workforce over a generation ago. That's one of the reasons Reagan lowered their taxes.
