The other three MPLS cops on Scene of FLoyd arrest

2 were on the force less than a week. Not a strong position from which to challenge a senior officer. One tried to tell him he shouldn't be doing that and the other asked a couple of times if they should roll him over. Convicting them I think is going to be tough.

What did they expect these rookies to do? Shoot the senior officer if they thought he was behaving dangerously?

If you have only been on a joint for 2 weeks, you are really still learning and just taking notes as to what is expected at the Minneapolis PD or wherever.

That's the problem with insulated, military like loyalty, which has some serious drawbacks. Remember when I commented that it appears this guy was the Alpha Male, which scared me? It wasn't that he was a better cop, or a better man, he simply had longer tenure. So, these guys got roped into it. His partner though, should have known better and at the very least picked the guy up, or even tell the guy, "I've got this".

I recall a rookie cop in Ontario arrested a guy who was drunk as a skunk, swerving around the highway. He pulled the guy over and he showed his badge. The rookie started to arrest him, another cop drove to them who had also been around the block a few times, and told the rookie, "it's ok, he's one of us". The rookie refused to accept it and arrested him.

Apparently this guy went through hell at work. He was ignored, verbally abused, and eventually was forced out of the agency. This guy in my eyes was a hero, a man of the highest character, while the others clearly care less about public safety than they do about

We also just had an "old school" former cop or union leader of the Toronto Police who sent an email that was leaked, in which he told the current police "don't trust the leadership" He went on to talk about police being different and "we bleed blue" and essentially painting themselves as above criticism or accountability (which has been true in Canada for 150 years), demanding they don't bend to new requirements.

Sounds like a guy who probably has a few skeleton in his closet...

Way most orgs work, nothing nefarious about it

To the point a man can kill someone in the presence of others and they don't feel comfortable speaking up? That's not how organizations work. There is a reason that War Crimes exist, and using the defense you were "just following a superiors orders" is murky at best. In this case, they weren't taking order, they were disobeying their oath.

They can let the experienced cop to take charge, give some direction, ask the questions of the perp, but, when he is killing a man by kneeling on his neck and he cannot breath, his "tenure" has to end. Find and instill confidence and obedience of new recruits to the LAW and their obligations, not, to a hierarchy. I am willing to bet in Police Academy they go over how to act if you see a crime being committed by another cop, or, one putting a citizen in danger.

The POS who rolled up and kneeled on this guy, didn't only kill him, he took three other cops, two new officers with him. Their dreams shattered because he an idiot of the highest order.

Oh, what video angle did you see that I didn't? The one I saw, was many gut wrenching minutes of a guy crying and pleading, saying he will get in the car now, etc.

"I can't breath" should have been the tell tale sign that this was overkill. If you hear that when you are kneeling on a mans neck, and he calls for his Mama, it's clear this was a horrific practice to continue.

Do you regularly tell your boss how to do things. They registered a protest and tried to get him off his stomach.

I realize they were in a difficult spot. It's why I refer back to my original point that an exclusive "top down" manner of policing is a horrible way to operate.

Training should be clear, "if you see ANY danger from another officer, you MUST take charge. If that officer retaliates with any retribution after the fact, they will be fired.

There were 4 or 5 people on the street who could see he was killing him. At one point, they even told his partner, "he's dead" And when the cop disagrees, he tells him "check his pulse then". If regular citizens can see this why couldn't anyone else?

If a man can't apply basic logic as a guy is handcuffed and no longer a threat, he should not be a cop. It places others in danger, as we are seeing over the last week.

None of the 4 will be found guilty. Which is why these protests happen.

No way. This case is very different from others that made the news in many respects. This case has become International and all the global socialists have gotten involve as they see it could help beat Trump in 2020.

It's why Trump has to be sharp and every move has to be able 2020. You can bet much of all that we see now is focused on this.

Just look how quickly concerns of the Wuhan Virus disappeared? MSM covers it, if it means beating Trump and getting back to helping China run the world.

No way they'll be found guilty? Lol well you are Canadian, so you must not pay much attention to this country. Bookmark this thread so that when you turn out to be wrong, you'll at least have a chance to learn something.

I'm confused. See the original comment, you said this: "None of the 4 will be found guilty. Which is why these protests happen."

You believe none of them will be found guilty, correct? If so, I disagree. Probably all of them will be found guilty of something, but certainly the cop charged with murder WILL be found guilty.

You think all four of them walk, or they go to prison?

I think all four of them will walk. There is plenty of precedent. Remember Tamir Rice, Philando Castile, Eric Garner, Freddie Gray, etc. All of their murderer's are free. Breonna Taylor's murderers, all cops too, are not even on trial.

I do find it unusual that they increased the charges to Second Degree. Why would they increase this charge and risk a higher bar and higher risk of him walking? 3rd Degree seemed much easier to prove.

If they walk, all hell will break loose. The fact that they were fired from the force so quickly, suggests to me they don't want to protect them, unlike the other cases in memory.

Its being set up that way on purpose. BTW MN AG doesn't have a law license

This article explains the change from 3rd to 2nd degree better than I can: Charges against Derek Chauvin suggest George Floyd's death was unintended

I predict he will not be convicted of either.
Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng, and Thomas Lane are charged with aiding and abetting both second-degree murder (the new charge against Chauvin) and manslaughter. Weirdly, under the circumstances, the three are not charged with the “depraved indifference” murder count; nor are they accused of committing manslaughter as principals — they are charged only as aiders and abettors, a theory that does not jibe with a negligence charge such as second-degree manslaughter (which is negligent homicide under Minnesota law).

But by upping the stakes in what are likely to be high-profile, emotional trials, Ellison may have also set the stage for more disappointment, frustration, and rage, with local and national political ramifications. Keith Ellison's George Floyd charges could ignite Minnesota 'tinderbox' if they fail
