It is now believed that this concept comes from the right side of the French parliament during the revolution, but this is an obvious lie. This is clear from the etymology of this word. For example, the word "Reiter"(knight) contains this root, and this concept is just close to what it was under the rule of the knightly military aristocracy.
This root as a whole has always meant the correct order, therefore the word itself also means correct.

This root is apparently preserved in all Indo-European languages, and it goes back to the ancient Aryan concept of rta, which meant a certain uncreated original cosmic order. This concept already existed in the Bronze Age.

In fact, this is apparently close to what constituted the kshatriya codex, and close to what is now understood by the concept of the power of the military aristocracy.

America inherited decentralized federalism from this regime. Before the monarchies in Europe, there was also a decentralized system of feudal estates

"Rta- exists as a universal principle according to which the Vedic universe exists. Nowhere is it said that anyone created Rta-. It is usually guarded - this function belongs to the class of gods Adityas, they observe, strive for it. [...] Nothing is compared with Rta- as equivalent."

from "Elizarenkova, Grammar of the Vedic language"
