Can you imagine the record "Rumble" by Link Wray was banned from being played on the radio in April 1958. The three chords still resonate today and it is still seen as cutting edge stuff today. I guess the quarks in the censorship world were sensitive to the title "rumble" which stood for gang fight back in the 50's or maybe the fact that Link Wray was a native American Indian.

Strippers were using it...and it started their version of dirty dancing in the teen community....and that created a storm....

PBS did a little bit on the influence of the Native American Indian culture on music. No doubt that Wray was one cool dude back then in 1958 with a cocky attitude and long wavy hair and the aviation glasses. Is it possible that Elvis copied Wray or did Wray copy Elvis?

This is when Lucy and Ricky Ricardo had to sleep in separate beds ... even though they were lawfully married not only in the show, but in real life as well ...
The Ed Sullivan Show couldn't broadcast Elvis Presley's hips ...
Granny could make moonshine all the day long there in Beverly Hills ...
Barbara Eden wasn't allowed to show her belly-button ...
Carroll Baker had to remain a virgin at the end of the movie Baby Doll ...

Maybe things weren't so bad back then ... maybe ...
