I've been exceptionally clear on my positions (which is that nothing is more important than liberty and the U.S. Constitution is the highest law in the land - any deviation from it is unacceptable) and I will continue to do so (because sadly, liberals lose all honest debates so they attempt to put words into the mouths of conservatives that were not said and not even thought). I am 100% against the U.S. government outlawing anything that consenting adults wish to engage in with each other (and no libtards - that doesn't mean one adult physician doing an abortion on another adult patient because there is a defenseless third party that is harmed there who is not an adult and cannot consent). And yes liberals - that absolutely includes homosexuality.

But that being said, as we learn more about the effects that pornography has on people and society, I'd love to see the day where the people reject it of their own free will. Not because it's outlawed, but because they choose to reject it based on on their own moral compass. I would love to see the day that pornography is legal but completely nonexistent because there was no demand for it and no willingness to provide it. I know that will never happen (obviously) but perhaps we could come to a point where the overwhelming majority reject it and it ceases to be so mainstream. There was a time where pornography was considered offensive and unthinkable. It would seem that the thinking from that era was not "uptight" but in fact exponentially more enlightened than we are today. It's hard to watch Elizabeth Smart here and disagree...

But proponents of freedom would argue for all imaginable types of human sexual expression to be expounded on and taught to children, instead of repressed by old prudish types like the OP...lol..

I'm actually on the side of the OP, just being sarcastic here. It's like porn if you took the body's equivalent of say, eating instead of sex, is the obesity of sex. It would be like saying "Not only is it healthy to have a salad, chicken breast and steamed rice, but all people should eat a dozen doughnuts a day, six cheeseburgers, 20 live octupi and...and...bite the heads off of 30 bats and eat those too!..yes!...ooooh...yes! And..and scoop out the innards of a dead donkey and eat all the squirming maggots inside...oooh baby...oh yes!" *thinks of the perverse food-addict idiot Andrew Zimmern who talks with his mouth full and gets a hard-on every time a butcher sharpens his knives or a worm crawls across his plate*

At a certain point the sane person has to get sick of it all and return to the basics. It's the natural swing of the pendulum. Morality exists really only to keep that human pendulum from swinging wildly, instead of just a mild back and forth.

This video more than any other I've seen addresses the pitfalls of temptations of all varieties...

Personally, while I was eager to watch an X-Rated movie when the ban on porn was lifted in the sixties it wasn't long before I became totally bored with it. It's the same thing over and over with different people.

It wasn't the porn it was the man...
Studies have shown that pornography had a profound negative effect on both those who provide it and those who consume it. Stop trying to act like it it limited to this one case. There are actually porn addiction centers to help people. And any girl who ever performed in the industry will give endless horror stories about how it ruined their lives.

That was the point of the OP. Glad you got it. Men need to learn how to choose well. The video above might help.
Everything in life is about moderation, yet not all humans can or do practice it..
Pornography - even in moderation - does have a negative effect. Does it mean one who consumes it will become a serial rapist? Of course not. But like smoking "in moderation" and doing drugs "in moderation" there still remains a negative affect.

Their is a negative affect of living, that death will occur..

What?!? Death isn't a negative affect at all. Who in the hell would want to live forever? I've never met a person who says they would want that.
Moon is trying to use farcical extremes to introduce a strawman. He knows this topic is about how one lives life, not that everyone will die eventually. His hope is that people will read what he said and say to themselves "yeah, so it doesn't matter when you boil it down"..

But it does matter. It matters a lot how a person lives. And THAT is the topic of this thread.

Thank you.

But as one who can recall the social atmosphere of the U.S. before pornography was legalized I can assure you that my brain was not altered by that medium of entertainment. While I did go to see a few of the first X-Rated movies, which probably were arousing (I honestly don't recall) as previously mentioned, I soon lost interest in it and I presently find all forms of porn to be quite un-interesting.

As for the addictive similarity to that of hard drugs; I have no doubt this is true. But you should understand that the general public is and has been seriously misled about the addictive potential and the national rate of addiction to "hard drugs" and probably to porn, as well. The fact is while some hard drug users do indeed become addicted to their substance of choice, as do some who drink beverage alcohol become addicted (alcoholics) to it, the percentage of that category is extremely small -- and the same ratio probably applies to those who become habituated to porn. The fact is if everyone who used and uses "hard drugs" became addicted ("hooked") the streets of America would look like something out of The Walking Dead series. Likewise, if porn were as neurologically affective as is claimed by the researchers you've referenced don't you think we'd be seeing all sorts of perverse manifestations in the behavior of average Americans, most of whom are exposed to porn on a daily basis? Have you ever seen any such manifestation?

Yes. Some people who use "hard drugs" get hooked on them. And yes, some people who like porn probably masturbate a lot. And yes, some people who like to drink alcohol become degenerate alcoholics. But, overall, the percentage of those who succumb to their exceptional addictive potential is relatively small.

Just look around you for evidence of that? How many nodding-out junkies and beady-eyed masturbaters do you see during your daily experience? Also, be advised the Prohibitionist mentality is as prevalent today as it was in 1920. These hypocritical, Bible-thumping assholes are essentially anti-pleasure.

I think we are seeing those manifestations. We live in an exponentially more promiscuous society than at any time in U.S. history. We've seen chemists develop stuff like Xtacy (spelling?) and the "date rape" drug so that people can commit rape without resistance or without a witness.

Look at Occupy Wall Street - those filthy animals were raping women like crazy. How many times per week is someone arrested for putting a video camera in a public restroom or public shower? I think if you were to really tune in every day and look for these news stories you'd be shocked by the amount of criminal sexual behavior occurring on a daily basis.

Wow three links in a row from "The Blaze." Can't wait to read those!!

Wasn't there a study not too long ago that found that the highest porn consumption came from highly Christian demographics? States like Utah were ranked the highest IIRC.

Like reality, some people just can't deal with human sexuality, sexual orientations, and the various genders.

Many couples use pornography. It's not just men jerking off.

They don't do the studies junior - they just report the news. :eusa_doh:
