Tearing down monuments of the Confederacy is actually a favor to the southerners, because those monuments are constant reminders their impoverished, uneducated, great-great grandfathers were duped by the wealthy slave owners to fight a brutal war where they had nothing to win, or lose.
Understanding this to be true, leaving Confederate monuments in place serves a greater purpose than tearing them down. Those monuments are testimonials to the stupidity of those who were killed, crippled, and disfigured fighting a war for the ungrateful southern fat cats of the era.
Because, had the Confederacy won, those impoverished, uneducated dimwits who managed to survive the war, would have gained nothing. Not even a tiny measure of gratitude from the wealthy slave owners they fought for and died to protect. Southerners must be reminded their pride is for the stupidity of their ancestors, nothing more.
