THE TRANSGENDER BAN ISN’T FAIR. NEITHER IS WAR

The military demands results, not diversity.

The ban on transgender service that President Trump reaffirmed was there for eight years under Obama. It was there in his first term and his second term. And the media said nothing.

Only in the summer of last year did the ban technically end. And, in practice, it remained in force. All the while there was no angry clamor about the suffering of potential recruits who couldn’t enlist. Those who are fuming with outrage now had hypocritically remained silent. Obama had done it. So it must be good.

Obama had kept the ban in place for almost his entire two terms in office. And he found a way to retain it throughout his final months. With a year’s review, the transgender recruits could only be accepted after he was out of the White House. That way he could have his social justice cake and eat it too. He would get the credit for ending the transgender ban without dealing with any of the problems.

And there were plenty of problems.

45% of transgender persons in the 18 to 44 age range are suicidal. This is a serious risk for personnel who are around weapons or operating machinery or aircraft. If this were the only issue, it would be enough to justify the medical ban.

...

Instead of forcing the military to learn from the broken society that Obama created, there are valuable lessons about loyalty and excellence that the military could teach the United States of America.

Sometimes life isn’t fair. Greatness comes from how we deal with that unfairness.

The left's latest tantrum is pathetic, cynical and disgusting.

Just like gay marriage, the left switched sides and then pretended it had never been on any other side. This was combined with deranged attacks on the same exact beliefs they had a few years ago.

It's even worse with military transgender service because we're not even talking about a few years, but a few months.

The media accuses President Trump of reversing Obama's policy. They leave out the part where Obama's policy was continuing the transgender ban.

The DOD ban on transgenders in the military was repealed in the summer of '16. Right around the time Obama was prepping his retirement plans.

Trump didn't reverse an Obama policy. He kept the same policy in place.

The media's hysteria is itself hysterical. It acts as if Trump is reversing some longstanding position when he's maintaining the status quo. A status quo that even Obama's people were reluctant to disturb which is why they dated the actual end of the policy to the next president's term after the review would be completed.

The few, the 'pride': From gender neutrality to gender fluidity in the military
By Ilana Mercer

President Trump's July 26 LGBTQ directives signaled his intention to ban the politicized transgender production from the theater of war.

LGBTQ is a political program why? Central to the concept of "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning" in the military is the idea of a group whose members have chosen to identify not as Private X or Private Z, but as a party to a political fraternity that promises and delivers an aggressive, noisy sexual identity politics.

Evangelizing for the cause is implicit in the introduction of this political production into the military. Ditto payment for drastic elective surgical procedures and the attendant hormonal maintenance.

In other words, LGBTQ in the military isn't about enhancing a fighting force; it's about introducing another state-driven reformation program. Egalitarian access here aims, inadvertently (as always), to grow an arm of government and, at the same time, "re-educate" the country.

Moreover, LGBTQ in the military is but another "[d]raconian social policy [enforced] without showing any interest in – and in many cases actively suppressing – good-faith information about how those policies [are] playing out at ground level," in the prescient words of Stephanie Gutmann, author of "The Kinder, Gentler Military: Can America's Gender-Neutral Fighting Force Still Win Wars?"
