Devoid of any ideas or solutions beyond the typical "more spending" bs, the Left now has a new crusade - get rid of any "offensive" monuments...

Personally, as a Libertarian and a libertarian, I really think the standards to erect a monument should be pretty high (Gen Lee's career 0-1 record doesn't cut it), and then the standard to tear it down should be higher, including a "THEN YOU PAY FOR IT!!" if you are "offended" solution.

Once again, what we have here is the effect of decades of so-called "affirmative action," where the "educated" minorities are not business people, entrepreneurs, doctors etc... they are professional taxpayer funded race baiters looking for a "cause" to justify their "pay."

The "tear down the monument" cause is just that, the "best the Dems have to offer" right now... and oh by the way the Dems still support more MORE MORE SPENDING too as long as they are the kleptocrats making that "spending" vanish...

A few things to consider:

These monuments are erected on public grounds. Some are on the grounds of courthouses, others in taxpayer supported public parks.

We, as a society, erect monuments to celebrate and venerate people and causes we admire.

Removing confederate monuments currently on public land does not erase history. I submit in Germany there are no monuments venerating the Nazis. Germans learn their history, but they do not celebrate it by dedicating monuments to their darkest era. German history is not erased.

If monuments are erected to those who not merely held slaves, but raised their swords in order to protect their state's right to allow them to do so is offensive to those whose heritage includes slavery, those monuments do not belong on lands supported by tax dollars.

Taking a narrow view that the money involved in removing such monuments does not seem to take into account the money paid by tax payers who do not support the meaning of those monuments.

Then you are free to fund their removal at YOUR EXPENSE.

Sunk cost. Done, at a time and place before you and I were born. These are relics. They don't cost anything to keep. They cost a bundle to take down.

All of the statues Democrats want to take down are statues of Democrats. Could it be they're trying to wipe out their own racist history?

Not to mention that those statues of the Confederate generals were NOT erected in the mid-19th century after the Civil War, but instead during Jim Crow in the 1910-1920s.
And intended to intimidate the blacks on top of the lynchings and acts of open discrimination that were happening then.

The Republicans are in charge now, remember? You fucking rednecks posted maps of the 2016 election showing ALL the states that he had gone red. It's the Republicans have the power to keep those statues in place. You should ask yourself why the Republicans have become such a bunch of limp dicks since Trump took office.

Exactly. And they were all statues of Democrats. And intended to intimidate blacks from voting Republican. Want to try again? I like watching you shoot yourself in the foot.
