my grandfather was a patriotic conservative all his life. his dying wish before he passed away in 2020 was that a Democrat defeats Trump and that the GOP would come to it's senses. only the 1st part has so far been accomplished, it's up to patriots like me to accomplish the 2nd

GOP congressmen can't make any significant reduction in government spending and remain in office because a significant part of their constituency are retired workers who depend on social security, Medicare, and other social programs, military personnel who support military spending, and businesses both large and small that depend on goverment spending.

The GOP is no longer the party of fiscal conservation. Their efforts in cutting spending is diluted by the party's concern for social issues such as stopping abortion, opposing rights of LGBTQ, opposing any movement they view as anti-White, opposition to programs to stop climate change, opposition to gun control, and using government as means of spreading various Christian ideals. Years past the GOP had only two main concerns, keeping the country fiscally sound, and safe via military spending. They tended to stayed away from social issues.
