The GOP Has a Problem: My Generation Isn't Conservative

Millennials and Generation Z show no sign of growing more conservative over time like the Boomers did. We must address the age gap.

The GOP has a problem, and it MIGHT be because they haven't had a good President since *checks notes*

Spendthrift statists with no fucking clue.

Reagan was the last good GOP president and Kennedy was the last good Democratic president.

I dont care for conservatism very much but it is a hell of a lot better than regressive illiberalism.

"regressive illiberalism"? Seems to me that this defines the current iteration of Trumpism.

perhaps an improved summary:

In the United States, the Republican Party has in recent years faced criticism that it is becoming increasingly illiberal under the leadership of President Donald Trump.[26][27][28] According to a study by the V-Dem Institute, the Republican Party has become more illiberal and populist in the last two decades with an increase under the leadership of Donald Trump.[29][30] Trump's populist style of governance coupled with authoritarian values have been considered a dangerous risk to the heart of liberal democracy, as well an indifference towards traditional democratic allies and praising other “strongman rulers” in the world like Putin.[31]
So, you think Trump was authoritarian?
How would you describe the current regime?

Biden is Humble, honest, empathetic, self effacing, compassionate, kind and thoughtful. All of which are the direct opposite of Trump, who is a self serving, vindictive, cruel, retaliatory, corrupt and dishonest.

Ah yes, the "Victory by Attrition" idea. I remember hearing that the bulk of racists are old white guys. When they die out the racism would die out. The majority of homophobes are old white men. When they die out LGBT people will be accepted.

How is any of that working out so far?

You do know Gay Marriage is legal, right?

...?

As in, the old white people that hated it died, and now it's a thing.

Yes, I know it is a thing. And it is a thing that is not without serious opposition. There is still plenty of homophobic hate mongers out there.

Re-read your first post again.

You know, the one asking WHEN WILL GAY MARRIAGE BE LEGAL? I THOUGHT IT WAS THE OLD WHITE PEOPLE RUINING IT!?

Now realize the truth: It already is legal.

I recommend that you reread my first post. If for no other reason than to see I did not ask when gay marriage would be legal. In fact, I never mentioned gay marriage at all. I mentioned LGBT people being accepted.

It already is accepted. Gay marriage is legal, and LGBT rights are here now. Right now.

And, you're a fool if you think many of us don't support their rights.

I want liberty for EVERYONE.

In case you haven't looked around, it's America that has the problem. It's close to burning down around us and neither political party gives a damn.

That's not true. The GOP gives a damn. But what are they supposed to do about it?

No, as in "a judge somewhere decided he knew better than the law, and simply imposed it on everyone else without regard to what they thought, and fools like you cheered for being treated as voiceless peasants, because you like it when you get what you think you want."

Your impression of the approval of Gay Marriage is based on the news outlets; many are run by gays.

I mean they may have employees who are gay...but RUN by gays? Nah, no way.

Haven't you noticed? Increasing numbers of "news outlets" are now being run by their employees, who get together in whining mobs and demand that their bosses do XYZ woke thing to please them. And the bosses, apparently, don't have the stones to tell them to get back to work, do as they're told, or get another job.

Perhaps its less about your generation than it is about what the NR considers "conservative." From the article it might be said that conservatives primary directive is to protect the most wealthy keeping their wealth

Yup, we had a golden age of Unionization and employee rights

But it's been so long...politicians have been shredding those rights for 60 or 70 years until there's almostnothing left.

Oh, please. There was no "golden age" about it, which is why union labor comprises maybe 5% of the workforce now. I know your masters have told you to "know" that's because politicians have "shredded those rights", and like the obedient and not-very-bright dog you are, you licked their hands and ran off to bark whatever they said. In fact, it was the workers themselves who decided they didn't want to work under the aegis of union leadership that was all about demanding dues and using them to build their own power.

We've already won, WinterBorn . The culture war was won by the left.

And you're just stupid enough to think, "We have what we want right now, and that means it will be that way FOREVER!!!"

Fact is, you've won BATTLES; the culture war isn't over, and never will be. Culture will ALWAYS be a matter of dispute.

The more arrogant fools like you dance around, shouting, "We won and everyone has to accept what we want and shut up!!" the more you hasten the next battle and increase the chances that you will lose it.

Nothing is constant in the world but change.

illiberalism is the opposite of liberalism.
Todays "liberals" are illiberals.

Provide examples, compare and contrast what Biden is doing vis a vis what trump has done.

And btw, read the link, it's not long and it is written by the Brookings Institute.

Since no one has the temerity to compare and contrast trump v. Biden I'll express my opinion:

Biden is Humble, honest, empathetic, self effacing, compassionate, kind and thoughtful. All of which are the direct opposite of Trump, who is a self serving, vindictive, cruel, retaliatory, corrupt and dishonest.

I cringe when reading your posts.
”The Left” has done nothing but cause mass degredation in this country....NOTHING they’ve done has been something good for America as a whole or for the future of this once great nation.
I genuinely feel real bad for your father and grandfather...
Gay marriage: Legal
Marijuana: Every election season another state adds it
Trans rights: Yes
The President: Leftist

We are on our way to bringing the culture to the left!

You are on your way to building an enormous backlash, because all you can see is, "We're forcing everyone to do what we want, and it's so much fun to get our way!!!" and you can't see that human beings don't tolerate oppression forever.

I keep telling you, you ignorant pimply little twat, that someday in the not-so-distant future, you are going to be standing in the rubble that's your REAL "victory", and wondering dazedly how everything you thought you wanted turned out to be such a disaster. Frankly, I'm just glad that I won't be here to have YOUR karmic reward forced onto me.

The problem with your generation is that it is so dumb it cannot define the word conservative...

Indeed , it cannot define

Fascism
Libertarianism
Socialism
Capitalism
Democracy
Dictatorship
Due process

I haven't noticed that they can define ANY words. They seem to think that words are just noises they make at the top of their voices, like babies crying for a diaper change.

The real problem here, is that these kids indocctrinated into the church of woke have no fucking idea what conservatism and liberalism even IS.

They promore profoundly anti-liberal notions in extremely authoritarian fashion while thinking they are being liberal for doing so.

Yes, but Biden is not exactly the face of "non-conservative" and Trump was anything but a conservative in the manner of Goldwater or Reagan, to say nothing of Calvin Coolidge let alone Alexander Hamilton

When you get into your 40s (your generation is having kids later) I am GenX...and see that small Gov't is better than big Gov't many will switch their views. I am an Independent but my views now due to my job and kids are now more closely aligned with the GOP.

Yep. That's what elected Trump in the first place. They're poised to do it again. And if they manage to tear down the filibuster in the process, things could be much uglier next time around.

The GOP is the party of yesteryear.

This is what comes of allowing fools like you to get away with never having to learn history. For all that you believe you're wise and evolved and original and "the future", you're really just a sad retread of a story that's been repeated numerous times. And they all thought they were wiser and more evolved and "the future", too.
