The right has always been hypocrites when it comes to the concept of small government

On a broader scope of my response to the OP.

Those of us on the right are not anarchists.

We recognize the importance of certain essential human rights and standards of morality and ethics, and the duty of government to uphold these.

We also recognize that there are areas that are none of government's business, and the need to restrain government from interfering in such matters.

Where we most profoundly differ from the left wrong is in what areas we recognize the need for government action, and in which areas we recognize the need for government to keep its filthy nose out of things that are none of its business.

And where matters of good vs. evil, and reason vs. madness, we on the right are nearly always found on the side of good/reason, while those on the left wrong are nearly always found on the side of evil/madness. The OP, of course points to one of the most profound examples of this distinction. The left wrong unabashedly takes the side of cold-blooded murderers who kill innocent children. The OP condemns Republicans for opposing this great evil.
