The Fight for 15 dollars an hour...the computer that just took my order is laughing at you......

Just went through McDonald's drive thru.......a computer took my order........

The Fight for 15 just forced even more people out of work.......good job democrats....

But serfs just need to vote every 2 years........they don't need jobs.
But, it was just a Minimum wage job; it should be easy to simply get another job under Capitalism, right, right wingers. Who wants a permanent minimum wage job.

Here in Florida, a $15 minimum wage was voted in, but it doesn't go into effect immediately. Minimum wage will go up one dollar every year until it hits $15 an hour.

A friend of mine who owns his own business has already let two employees go. They didn't perform work that would ever be worth $15 an hour to him, so he let them go, each with a small "severance", and wished them well in finding employment with someone who can afford them.

Liberals are stupid, and they end up hurting the very people they claim to be fighting for...
Minimum wage jobs are not meant to be permanent, right, right wingers. It is easy to simply get a better job under Capitalism and move up from minimum wage jobs is what right wingers keep telling us in socialism threads.

They aren't stupid, they are evil. They know those two people who were let go now are more likely to vote for the political party that promises to punish the business owner who let them go and promises to give them money for free....
They should "punish" the politicians who ignore equal protection of the laws.

Jesus FUcking Christ, you're thick.

Minimum wage was never intended, nor should it ever be intended, to be a "living wage".

Why do you believe it should be?

Actually, that's exactly what it was intended to be, so that every recession wasn't an excuse for employers to lay off all the current staff and hire a new staff who will work cheaper.

It's gotten watered down by not raising in to match inflation.

You can say it should be a living wage all you want; doesn't make it so.

Back in '78, I was making $2.85 an hour. If I worked a 40 hour week (which I never did) I'd be making $114 a week; $456 a month before taxes. I don't recall the tax rates from back then, but it's a fair bet my take home was less than $400 a month.

On what planet would that be a living wage? Where would I be able to afford rent, utilities, groceries, health insurance, etc?

When it was first instituted, minimum wage amounted to $10 a week; a whopping 25 cents an hour. You had $40 a month before the taxman showed up.

The average rent was $27 a month.

The funny part? Adjusted for inflation, that 25 cents an hour is around $4.62, far less than what it actually is. This is all the proof intelligent people need to recognize that Roosevelt's plan was a failure...

Minimum wage was never intended to be a living wage...

Minimum wage jobs are not meant to be permanent, right, right wingers.

I'm not really a right-winger, but I agree with you 100%...

It is easy to simply get a better job under Capitalism and move up from minimum wage jobs is what right wingers keep telling us in socialism threads.

No, it's not easy, nor should it be.

The difference between conservatives and liberals is that conservatives understand that, if you want something, you work for it. This is something liberals wrestle with. They would much prefer to have things handed to them...

In this case it is merely about equal protection of the laws. Right wingers were for slavery, not doing the hard work themselves.

I have valid arguments not merely fallacy and no valid arguments at all. Only full of fallacy right wingers brag about how they don't use marijuana.

You're an idiot.

Your "arguments" are unintelligible and ignorant (as are you).

And I don't see anyone bragging about not smoking weed...

Frankly, I'm not that excited about keeping McDonald's in business as a customer, and I wouldn't expect the employees to be either, at $15/hour and overweight.

The small independent or non-franchised restaurants can't afford their very own corporate DEA to keep the food and drink clean and sober at the drive-thru.

Would we need a Statutory minimum wage for free market Capitalism purposes, with equal protection of our at-will employment laws so the unemployed could obtain UC at the equivalent to fourteen dollars an hour?

You can say it should be a living wage all you want; doesn't make it so.

Back in '78, I was making $2.85 an hour. If I worked a 40 hour week (which I never did) I'd be making $114 a week; $456 a month before taxes. I don't recall the tax rates from back then, but it's a fair bet my take home was less than $400 a month.

That was the point. IN 1978, we had had a decade of hyperinflation and the minimum wage didn't keep up.

That's why it needs to be fixed now.

You conveniently left out the part that, when minimum wage was first instituted in 1938, it wasn't even a living wage then. So, saying it's supposed to be a living wage now is ludicrous, considering that it wasn't when it was first instituted...

Well that's normal. If the economy tanks, that means I (the employer) have less money. If I have less money, because my customers are paying less for products.....

Then I have to pay less to my employees.

You do understand that all prices are in a state of constant flux, right?

So if the economy tanks, I have to lower the prices on my products, or lose customers. So I either lose customers and lose a ton of money, or I can lower prices, and lose less money, and maintain my customer base.

If lose customers.... then I'll lose the employees anyway... right? Because I don't even need them now because I lost sales.

So instead I'll cut my prices, but the trade off is, I can't pay people the same high wage, when I'm charging the customers less money for products.

Have you ever run a business before? Because this is like Business 101. I learned about that in high school over 20 years ago.

No, but it was slowly built up to be close to a living wage, by 1968, it was worth 11.68 in today's dollars.

.

Actually, I own a business... but I don't employ anyone but myself.

Now, being a complete fucking retard, what you don't get is that if people don't have any money because they aren't making a living wage, they aren't going to be patronizing your business. Most businesses would be considered a luxury.

And you guys have been ringing the inflation bell for years.... even you don't believe that shit.

Black codes were still happening back then.
