Under Reagan, the policy of the USSR took a right direction. They removed the KGB proteges, introduced freedom of speech, put an end to drunkenness, launched housing construction. but then the democrats came, put the alcoholic Yeltsin. The USSR was destroyed, the country was overwhelmed by civil wars, riots and machinations at the state level, state property was plundered. Many people died.

After 2000 under Bush, the hard times ended and a period of stability began.

Putin was a breath of fresh air to the Russian people.
He restored order on the streets, jailed or exiled the jewish billionaires that had been robbing the country, and restored the Russian orthodox church back to its historical place of prominence within Russian society. ... :cool-45:

The Soviet union crashed because of their long war in Afghanistan.

In general, he put things in order and the country was doing well until he left the ruling party in 2012. This was most likely not connected with him, but with Bush's policy.

No. They pulled troops out of Afghanistan when the KGB was swept away by Reagan.

This war did not take up significant resources for the USSR, there was a limited contingent.

That and its moribund bumbling top heavy bureaucracy. ... :cool-45:
The only real reason for the USSR to turn to the right is the Reagan Doctrine, and the only reason for its collapse is Clinton. Everything else is just covering up the tracks.

He took the side of the Russian people and refused to let degenerates seize control of the schools.
