It was pegged very early, late March, by Oxford @ .1-.3%, IIRC. Nobody wanted to hear it then. That study, and other studies corroborating it here and elsewhere, were roundly attacked and discredited for one reason or another. People pointing this out were attacked for wanting to kill grandma and a host of other hysterical nonsense.

Turns out they were right on the screws.

CDC in March MARCH estimated it at .16%. Nobody reported on it, of course, and it's not like the CDC pushed it, as they were trying to drive the lockdown sentiment, so they were fine with keeping people uninformed. They recently revised that estimate to .26%.

And those numbers include infections and fatalities in LTC facilities, where ~42% of fatalities have occurred. In the general population who knows what it is, but it's south of even that number, little doubt.

The death rate is less than 1%.

Do the math. In Arizona random serology results are at 3.5%. In a state of 7.2 million, plus 112,000 confirmed cases, that’s 364,000 at least that have had the virus. Only 2000 dead out of that, means the mortality rate is 0.5%. Even then, the vast majority of deaths in Arizona are 65+. The mortality rate is higher for them, but far less for the 20-55 year olds that make up most of the workforce. The huge majority of new cases are young people 20-54. Even if only counting confirmed cases of ages 20-54, the mortality rate is 0.3%, but if you take into account serology testing the actual mortality rate of 20-54 year olds is 0.007%.

Then there is places like New York, that have serology testing results at about 12% average, although some places test as high as 51%. If those numbers are true, then the mortality rate is even lower.
