The Boys: Vought is the Government and Superheroes Our Politicians

I like the series, I think it has some great satire about contemporary politics and culture.

They've really deviated a lot from the Comics, gender swapping a few of the characters. They've also made most of the characters a LOT more likeable. The "Heroes" of the Seven are contemptable people in the comics (except for Starlight, of course), but the series has made them sympathetic. Homelander is still a narcissistic jerk, but you feel sympathy for him, given his upbringing.

The original Boys was a commentary on post-9/11 America and sending up the Superhero Genre. (During the course of the comics, the Boys fight parodies of the X-Men, Avengers, Teen Titans and other groups.) This series is more of a criticism of social media, Trumpism, and the commodification of celebrity.

I do think the second season is getting bogged down a bit, and I'm wondering if the show runners have a plan.
