The Big One Is Coming’ and the U.S. Military Isn’t Ready

The US wrote the book on Carrier operations

We are not sharing with China
Well someone gave them some technologies. the next carrier looks like the Nimitz class bu tit will be convenional I believe. The ones after will be nuclear. They will start to control the seas around East Asia at some point. And then spread from there. They are putting out warships of some kind every several weeks. But we are spending endles money on gender names and dresses and operations while letting in untold millions from failed western nations.

Carriers are a lot harder to sneak up on and fire a torpedo at than you might think. Not only that, but they are pretty hard to sink with just one torpedo. Then, there is the fact that ALL U.S. Navy ships are built from the ground up with what is called "watertight integrity". If you need further edification on what that is, look it up or ask a Sailor. Basically, it means that each and every space on that ship can be sealed off from each and every other one in case of being breached and taking on water.. If a sub fired a torpedo at a carrier (assuming of course that it got past the escort of ships sailing with it), it would only get off one, maybe two, and then it would have to deal with all the firepower and systems on the carrier (and its escort) because priority one would be to find and sink the sub. Chances are, the sub wouldn't survive, but the carrier would.
Lookee here boyo try reading what you are responding to............as in.........the major concern over the survivability of Aircraft Carriers in the modern era is not just mere torpedoes but missles.

Too many have a love affair with Air-Craft carriers and will not face up to current and future realities.....mostly old timers I think

It's obvious that you're not an expert, especially if you think a sub is something that a carrier would fear.
Obviously you are not up to par regarding current realities aka you appear to be stuck in the past...how old are you?

Can a submarine sink a carrier?

Image result for can a chinese submarine sink an American Aircraft Carrier

In 2005, the US Navy's new aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan, was "sunk" by torpedoes. It happened during a war game pitting a carrier task force and its escorts against a Swedish sub. The sub that pulled off that feat was HSMS Gotland, a relatively cheap diesel-powered boat.Sep 8, 2022

How a cheap Swedish submarine 'ran rings' around a US aircraft carrier ...

If the swedes can do that....it should not be so difficult to imagine what the Chinese can do with their subs...not even to mention hypersonic missles.

General Billy Mitchell was courtmartialed for proving airplanes could sink a battleship prior to WWII.....much of the same lack of ability to see the truth remains today.

China could sink a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier in five ways: carrier ballistic missiles, hypersonic glide vehicles, anti-ship missiles, and hybrid cruise missiles or torpedoes.

Chinese Intelligence is all pervasive and the most competent in the world.....they have had little trouble acquiring our so called secrets.....and of course people like bill clinton helped them tremendously as well as corporation types who love money more than they love America....even sloe joe is in bed with the ChiComs......so anyone who wants to underestimate China is making one of the classic mistakes of war............underestimating your enemey which is a sure fire way to lose a war.

The more astute understood this long ago.....unfortunately many others still fail to grasp just how big of a threat China is.

As pointed out in the article the fact that China sent a hyper-sonic missle around the earth and brought it back to China should have been take much more seriously than it was.....what that demonstrates is that any American City can be hit by China without warning.

Under the current biden regime it is more important for our military to be 'woke' regarding current social issues such as transgenerism, racism etc. than it is to be combat ready....we could pay a huge price for such stupidity.

The Big One Is Coming’ and the U.S. Military Isn’t Ready

What big one?

Lololol.

Currently, most missiles are sub sonic in speed, and the CIWS (R2D2 with a hard on as it's commonly called in the fleet) is pretty damn successful in keeping the ship safe.

With the newer missiles coming down the pike (hypersonic)? They're gonna have to update the guns to have a greater range and better radar, but I'm pretty confident that will be accomplished.

You are way over-confident me thinks.....now if the biden regime can be shed as it looks like it will be then there is some hope that Republicans will be able to turn things around....the big question being with all the damage biden has done.....will there be enough time before China strikes?

You know what? the issue is not so black and white.....so go easy. :)

The US Navy has shed light on a previously highly classified project meant to protect aircraft carriers from the grave and widespread threat of torpedoes, and it's been a massive failure.

Virtually every navy the US might find itself at war against can field torpedoes, or underwater self-propelled bombs that have been sinking warships for more than 100 years.

US Navy aircraft carriers represent technological marvels, as they're floating airports powered by nuclear reactors. But after years of secretive tests, the US has given up on a program to protect the ships against torpedoes.

Yay! You know how to use Google to find an article that agrees with you!

I doubt the author of that article is any more of an "expert" than you are.

ok ok....you are THE expert here then. I get it .;)

Not really an expert, just someone who served 2 deployments on carriers and know that they aren't as easy to sink as some might think.

nobody said it was "easy".

but it was said, by the US Navy, that you can not protect very expensive carriers from torpedoes, and that they have given up on the program to protect these carriers, because it can not be done.

They might get in one or MAYBE two hits, but then would be sunk where they stood. And, a carrier isn't going to go down from that. There is the fact that they have thick hulls, as well as the fact that they have watertight integrity, and can seal off any spaces that become breached and remain afloat. If you wanna sink a carrier, you're gonna have to hit it quite a few times before it will sink.

Whatever Sailor....have it your way.

Continue to quake in fear and believe what the bullshit artists tell you. Me? I prefer not to believe them as I know some of the capabilities of carriers, having been deployed onboard.

And, those systems were developed for supercavitating torpedoes, which are much faster than regular ones. Granted, currently there isn't a good defense against them, but like I said, they get one, MAYBE two shots, and then the anti sub people will be on them like stink on shit and sink 'em.

And, that's assuming of course that the torpedo is able to hit the ship in the first place.
